Impact on student learning: The software Objection! is used by lawyers, judges and prosecutors in all 50 states and in several countries. Objection! Provides an intense, real-life courtroom experience to the user. The “Judge” instantly delivers rulings backed by cases, dicta, explanations, statutes and rules, both federal and state, from all 50 states. This software provides an experience so realistic that it is accredited by state bar associations. Users gain a thorough understanding of the rules of evidence, enabling the user to make appropriate and timely objections as needed in the litigation process. The charge from UT’s Paralegal Studies Program’s accrediting agency, the American Bar Association, is to provide both theory and practical application in every one of the program’s law courses. In the program’s four litigation courses - LGL:2020 Civil Procedure; LGL:2700 Mock Trial; LGL:3330 Litigation; and LGL:4990 Mock Trial Team – students learn the theory of evidentiary rules and their application to the trial process. As a practical application, students must have a thorough understanding of evidentiary techniques, the proper and relevant objections to be made, and the process of timely making those objections. The software Objection! has been used by the Paralegal Studies Program with outstanding success for at least ten years in the above courses and for the above purposes. However, the old version of the software will not run with the updates being made or anticipated in the College computer labs and IT-supported computers. This new version of the Objection! software is critically needed for its impact on student learning and to comply with the Program’s accreditation.

Equipment/Technology purchased with Tech Fee funds is for student use only. It cannot be filtered or “passed-down” to faculty or staff. All outdated or broken Tech Fee equipment/technology must be returned to the Tech Fee Committee for retirement or disposal. If you are submitting a request for computers, printers, scanners or software, you must consult with College Computing and the technology staff, to acquire

a quote and to make sure that this equipment/software is supported by UT. For software, please note below if you are requesting it as a one-time expense or as an on-going fixed expense.
