MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING PRINCIPAL

It only seems like yesterday that we were greeting the new Preps, setting up our new classroom routines and

talking about our summer holidays…. that is now all a distant memory. Where did the term go?

All about me

As many of you know, my role here as Acting Principal is only until our substantive Principal, Sherri Lake, returns.

Initially I was only supposed to be here until the end of 2018. That time frame was then extended to the end of

this term. Last week, I was asked if I was happy to stay as your Acting Principal until mid-Term 2. Of course I said I

would love to continue. At this stage my final day at Kingston Heath will be May 31st…… but that could change.

If/when I have hear of any changes to that plan, I will let you know. I have been in regular contact with Ms Lake

and I know she is excited about returning to school and being your Principal.

Holidays

Please remember that it is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that our school is looked after over the holiday

period. It’s great to see people using the school facilities by making use of the basketball courts and

playgrounds. We have a wonderful community resource and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that our

grounds are used appropriately. If you are at the school with your children over the holidays and you witness

others not respecting our yard, please notify the police immediately.

WARNING: I’m getting on my soap box!!!

Yes, it’s that time of term again when I get on my soapbox to stress to people of all ages to wear helmets when

riding their bikes, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, etc.

I mention it at the end of every term, and I’ll mention it again…during the school holidays, please be aware of an

increased number of children out and about, riding their bikes and scooters and playing around the streets. It

doesn’t matter how many years you have been riding for, accidents can still happen. From personal experience, I

know that my bike helmet not only saved my life, but also my ability to walk and function the way I still can.

Helmets don’t work if they are being held in your hand while skateboarding, or sitting on your handlebars when

riding your bike. They also don’t work if they are not done up correctly or the straps are loose and just hanging

around your chin. What we do need to do is make sure that our children are careful on the roads, follow the

rules, and ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET CORRECTLY.

Hope you all get some time to relax and enjoy being with the people you care about the most over the Easter

break.

FOODIE MONDAY/FRIDAY

Formally known as Earn and Learn

Foodie Monday/Friday (the old Earn and Learn) will commence this Friday 29th March.

Sausage rolls, pies and pasties will again be on offer for the children to purchase.

Sausage rolls will cost $3.00

and pies/pasties will cost $4.00

Yoghurt ice-creams will again be on sale for $2.00

We are looking for year 6 parents to help support the program by preparing and cooking the lunches on Monday’s

and Friday’s.. If we don’t get the helpers the program will unfortunately have to cease.

Please contact the office ladies if you are able to help out.

Please note if there is a Munchy Monday FUNDraising lunch on, there will be NO Foodie Monday running that day.

Clarinda Art & Craft Market is on the first Saturday, every month from 10am – 2pm in the Clarinda Community Centre, cnr Viney & Bourke Roads, Clarinda.
