The Fresno State Student Advocacy Training program through the LEAD Academy is designed to teach students about Fresno State's structure and current issues influencing higher education through experiential learning opportunities. Selected participants will earn a certificate in student advocacy. Bus transportation to and from the State Capitol is complimentary for participants. Space is limited; you must be a Fresno State student. More details will be provided to selected participants. For ques- tions, please contact the ASI Office at (559) 278-2656. Legislation Education Advocacy Democracy The Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) program provides funding for out-of-class experiences for students participating in an academic program, discipline, or department where those experiences are integrally related to one of its instructional courses. Such activities are deemed essential for providing a quality educational program and constitute a vital and/or enhanced instructional experience for students. The Undergraduate Research grant provides up to $1,000 in financial support to undergraduate stu- dents who work closely with a faculty member to conduct research, engage in field studies, create pro- jects in their discipline, or participate in similar scholarly/creative activities. Students are encouraged to design their own projects but may also work on a professor's project. Students must work closely with a faculty mentor to prepare and complete an Undergraduate Research Grant proposal. The purpose of the Symposium is to share recent research with community investigators in various fields, college students, and faculty, as well as to encourage research activities in the Central Valley. All fields of research will be considered for presentation to exchange ideas among investigators and the general public. Career Development Center Suit Up 2.0 It’s a new year; is your wardrobe up to date? If not, don’t stress, it’s time to shop for success! JCPenney and the Fresno State Career Development Center are teaming up to give students, staff and facul- ty the ULTIMATE shopping experience! That’s a better discount than what employees get! Just make sure to have your student Fresno State ID card! There will be food, music, raffle prizes and makeovers by Sephora! This event will be on Sunday, February 25, from 6:30 pm- 9:30 pm at JCPenney in Fashion Fair! Student Health and Counseling Center Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) Student Track application for HACU 32 nd Annual Conference The scholarship application is open for the Student Track of HACU’s 32nd Annual Conference Oct. 6-8, 2018, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, GA. Student Track Scholarships cover cost of registra- tion and conference-related meals (one per day). For out-of-state students or those outside the Atlanta metro area, travel and lodging are also included. The application deadline is June 29, 2018. For more information, click here. The HACU National Internship Program (HNIP): "Opening Doors of Opportunity - Abriendo Puertas de Oportunidad" If you are interested in a government or corporate internship, HACU may be able to assist you in your search.
