#PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT The feedback from parents about our Information Night on Tuesday was very positive and great way to start the year off. This was an opportunity we believe to be clear on how we work together to support your child’s learning and development, specifically in Literacy and Numeracy. The parents who attended Tuesday night I’m sure are much more aware of what’s happening in their child’s classroom and have ways to help with reading and maths at home. Thank you to staff for again working outside their expected hours to run these important information sessions for parents. #PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES At the Information Night parents began signing up for their Parent Teacher appointments. Parent Teacher Conferences are available for all parents who wish to see their child’s teacher. Here are the dates teachers are free from 1.00pm – 7.00pm. # Monday March 24 Mr Miller (5/6) Tuesday March 25 Mrs Austen (1/2) Wednesday March 26 Mr Boyd (2/3) Thursday March 27 Miss Fryer (3/4) Monday March 31 Miss Daly (Prep) SCHOOL COUNCIL 2014 After our nominations closed last Friday I am happy to announce that our School Council members for 2014 are Sam Robinson, Karen Mahoney, Tory Robinson, Roma Britnell, Trevor Hirst, Simon Cuzens, Danielle Gladman, Simon Poynton, Ben Miller, Sarah Daly, Simon Perry, Samantha O’Keefe (PFA rep) and Emma McRae (PFA rep). Our School Council members are all very approachable and willing to hear parent’s feedback and ideas. School Councils play a key role in Victorian government schools. Participating as a School Council member is a rewarding experience. The School Council supports the Principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students. Our Annual Implementation Plan for 2014 can be accessed via our website. Here is the link- http://woolsthorpeps.global2.vic.edu.au/strategic-plan/ #ABSENCE If your child is absent from school, you are required to give a reason for the absence in writing to the child’s teacher, dated and signed. Please do not send your child to school if he/she is ill. A sick child does not enjoy school and the school does not have the facilities to provide necessary nursing care. Parents will be called to pick up sick children. Student absences are monitored closely by the school and parents notified of any unexplained absences. #TWITTER Each day things change and places look different. Teachers are making sure learning programs are fun and suited to our learners’ needs. This year we are sharing our learning at school via twitter so families can see firsthand all the great things students are learning about. Please follow us @woolsthorpeps #REMINDERS House Sports Brauerander Park Friday March 21st. As in past years this is a great family event and we encourage everyone to come along on the day and join in on the fun. Our family Welcome BBQ will be on this day also. The BBQ, along with salads will be provided by the Parent & Friends Association (PFA). No buses will run on the House Sports Day, parents will need to make arrangements for students to be at Brauerander Park by 8.45am. Events will start at 9.00am, any parents who can help on the day with events and activities please contact Mr Miller. #*If your contact details or email have change at any time please ensure these are changed at school with Jodie. We must have up to date information and phone numbers in case of an emergency. ##########ALL PARENTS MUST HAVE TIQBIZ FOR IMPORTANT MESSAGES & EMERGENCIES #Follow Us on Website- http://woolsthorpeps.global2.vic.edu.au #Simon Perry | Principal | Woolsthorpe Primary School Respect Excellence Care Teamwork

KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM TERM 1

As per the note that went home earlier this week, our Kitchen Garden Program starts up next week and we require parent volunteers to help the students cook up a storm! #Many thanks to those parents who have already volunteered their time - we realise that time is very precious and work sometimes prohibits us from being able to help out. If there is another day that would suit better, please let Suzi know and we can look at that for next term. #If you can spare some time as a class co-ordinator or volunteer, we would really appreciate it! Don’t forget Grandparents, Aunts or Uncles are welcome to help too!

The students have all done the program before (except for the Preps) so they know what to expect. All staff and students really appreciate the effort made by our parent volunteers. This year the students will be a little more hands-on in the veggie garden - as we are no longer a building site! This will provide them with more links between what they plant and nurture and what they harvest and cook, enhancing their learning. #If you have any further queries, please contact Tory Robinson on 0414 895 585 or contact Suzi at the school on 5569 2241.

Yes, it’s that time of year again and we’re gearing up for the Folk Festival Pancake Shifts! Our Pancake Stall is a major fundraiser

for the PFA, allowing us to provide that little extra for our students. If you can spare a few hours (or a relative or neighbour is happy to

help out) please call Bek Hirst on 0429 198 365.

We love to see as many new faces as possible, so if you’ve never done a Pancake Shift before, please don’t be deterred by the unknown! Get a group

of friends together or just join a shift that suits - you’ll meet new people (and we’re all awesome), have a great time, listen to some tunes on the

Railway Green AND be raising money for your kids at the same time! It’s a WIN-WIN!

Hope to see you all there!
