August 17th, 2015Weekly Homework Read at least 20 minutes every night.

Reading logs are due Dec. 7th. Please make sure that your child’s first and last name appears on the log! This log will be due after break. You may turn the reading log in on Friday if you would like!

(TAG) Creativity Enrichment: Hidden picture: Draw a cornucopia and disguise it in a picture. Write 3-5 strong sentences telling how you disguised the picture.

Have students complete the math problem solving sheet.

Book Clubs: Please check your child’s book bag for book club homework. It varies per book club.

This week in: Word Study: we will study words that have the prefixes un, re, and dis Mentor Sentence –character’s actions Language Arts Skills- contractionsReading Workshop- we will continue our unit of study on main idea and details. Writing Workshop- we will finish up writing fictional narrative stories and begin opinion writing. Math Workshop- this week we will work on problem solving with adding, subtracting, and money and adding up to 3 digit numbers. Science-We will start our unit of study on energy. We will be taking a look at energy of heat, light, and motion. TAG- we will be working on Maker Space and beginning our work on Media Festival projects.

Important Dates

12/3 Talent Show Auditions. PLEASE make sure that the permission form is complete and returned to me by Monday 11/30. If your child is auditioning I will walk them to

auditions unless you are accompanying them.

*12/4 we’ll have a math quiz on problem solving and money. We will review in class this week too.
