Students have started a unit on procedural writing. Students were giv-en the challenge of explaining how to make a paper air-plane to others. Many students had never made one be-fore and needed to complete some re-search first. Once

students practiced making airplanes they were able to share the steps with others. Students also had a chance to measure the dis-tance of their planes during math. We will continue with procedural writing until winter break. At home,

students can review procedural writing by following recipes or playing a board game.

Before the winter break we will focus on adding and subtract-ing. We will continue this unit in the New Year, which means students will have a test shortly after the break. During the winter break I will post review ques-tions to help prepare

students when they return in January. As always, Mathlet-ics will be available for review over the holidays if your child would like to practice these skills.

We are currently working on our Measurement unit. Students are learn-ing about linear measurement, mass and capacity. This unit will wrap up early next and be-fore the weekend I will post review questions on our class website for

In November we had a wonderful time at the ROM learning about first nations and early societies. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Field Trip

On our last day of school, Friday, December 23rd we will be having a spirit day where students are en-couraged to dress in red and green. We will also have a special Holiday Sing-along in the gym beginning at 10:30am. Children will gather and sing a variety of holiday songs. Par-ents are welcome to attend, and are encouraged to wear red or green clothing just like the students, to go along with the holiday theme.

Every year Norman Ingram helps a local charity in some way. This year we are partnering with New Circles. We are collecting socks and underwear as these items are usually in low supply, but high in demand. There are many people who are not able to purchase these simple everyday

items that most of us probably take for granted. Events like these give Norman Ingram students a chance to make a difference in the lives of others. Donations are be-ing accepted starting Monday, December 5th until Wednes-day, December 21st. Thanks for giving back!
