The amount of noise a fan makes is an important

consideration in choosing your fan. The industry

standard for measuring the amount of sound a fan

makes when it operates is called “sones”. One sone

is equivalent to the sound of quiet refrigerator. The

lower the sone rating, the quieter the fan will be. A

quiet bathroom fan will be rated at about 1.5 sones or

less.

What is sone

CFM is the acronym for Cubic Feet per Minute—the

measure of air volume moved by the fan blower.

Choose a fan with a CFM rating appropriate for your

room size to ensure adequate ventilation.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) sets the standard for residential

ventilation at a minimum of 0.35 air changes per hour, and not less than 15 cubic feet per minute (cfm) per person.

What is CFM

Use this simple formula or the chart to calculate

the required CFM for continuous ventilation.

CFM = .01 x floor area (in square feet) plus

7.5 x (number of bedrooms + 1).

Example: A 3,000 square foot home with

3 bedrooms would require 60 cfm:

.01 x 3,000 = 30

7.5 x (3+1) = 30

Add together for a total of 60 CFM

can you have an airtight, energy efficient home that's also healthy and well-ventilated? Flow2 One air exchange

system stands for single room ventilator. It is a technology to provide fresh air into a building, extract stale air

from the building. It can improve indoor air quality and you are always breathing in air that feels better.

Flow2 One is similar to a balanced ventilation system, it uses the heat in the outgoing stale air to warm up the

fresh air. A typical unit features two fans—one to take out household air and the other to bring in fresh air. What

makes an HRV unique is the heat-exchange core.

Heat recovery is a process of continuously

preheating incoming cool supply air by warming it

with the outgoing exhaust air. Warm air is not simply

exhausted but transfers most of its heat to supply air

in a highly efficient heat recovery exchanger. At no

time do the airstreams mix as the heat radiates

through the plates of the exchanger.
