Purpose of Project

• To revitalize the roadway corridor

• Mitigate flooding in several problem areas through replacement of the drainage system

• Improve pedestrian safety 

• Improve sidewalks and enhance ADA compliance

Project Scope

• Pavement Replacement• New Sidewalks, Wheelchair Ramps, and Granite Curbing

• Stamped Concrete Crosswalks• Improved Signing and Pavement Striping• Drainage System Replacement/Catchment• Coordination with municipal utilities for advance contracts– Gas– Water

• Installation of new ADA compliant concrete sidewalk throughout entire length of High Street

• Installation of ADA compliant concrete wheelchair ramps at every street corner and crossing

• Replacement of crosswalks

• Installation of granite curbing

Proposed Drainage 

• High Street– Entirely new closed system of pipes and structures– Improved collection on western side streets

• Route 108– Additional structures and pipes added to existing system to increase catchment and capacity

– Additional curbing added to more effectively define gutter lines and eliminate ponding

– Cleaning and flushing of existing pipes / structures to remain

Construction

• Construction anticipated to begin Spring 2014

• Traffic during construction will consist of a standard 1 lane closure with alternating traffic

• Work schedule to be coordinated with school calender
