Improving your video experience. NetFlix: Netflix’s default setting will use as much bandwidth as it can up to about 7Mbps+. Even if you are on a 7Mbps plan or higher, any other devices in your house using bandwidth will affect your viewing experience. So, if you are suffering buffering while watching Netflix streaming (and/or you want to reduce your bandwidth consumption), we are pleased to let you know Netflix have provided a way to control the maximum bandwidth Netflix uses. I have detailed below the steps to set this up. The good thing is, once set in your Netflix Account it will benefit all methods you use to stream Netflix video. E.g. Computer, TV, Blu-Ray players, Sony PS3, X-Box etc. The set up. (1) Log into Netflix.com on your computer. (2) Click on the “Your Account” link in the top right hand corner of the Netflix screen. (3) Click on the “Playback Settings” link in the “MY PROFILE” box. (see image below) (4) Select “Low quality (up to 0.3 GB per hour)” and press save. NetFlix:

Netflix’s default setting will use as much bandwidth as it can up to about 7Mbps+. Even if you are on a 7Mbps plan or

higher, any other devices in your house using bandwidth will affect your viewing experience. So, if you are suffering

buffering while watching Netflix streaming (and/or you want to reduce your bandwidth consumption), we are pleased to

let you know Netflix have provided a way to control the maximum bandwidth Netflix uses.

I have detailed below the steps to set this up. The good thing is, once set in your Netflix Account it will benefit all

methods you use to stream Netflix video.

(see image below)

(4) Select “Low quality (up to 0.3 GB per hour)” and press save. (see image below)

Hulu/Other

With Hulu (and many other services/video players) the quality adjustment is in the player itself. Usually it

appears as a gear, or some sort of tool. Here you can adjust your quality – we recommend the Low/basic setting for optimal streaming.

Switch between High Definition and Standard Definition If your Internet connection is slow or High Definition movies or TV shows

take longer than normal to start, try changing your Video Resolution to Standard Definition. From the main iTunes menu, choose

Settings > iTunes Store and switch 1080p HD or 720p HD to Standard Definition. Your Movie and TV show purchases and rentals

will now be in Standard Definition.

Note: 1080p HD content is available on Apple TV (3rd generation) only.

Update your Apple TV software

It's always a good idea to update your software. Software updates can include feature changes and fixes that might enhance your

viewing experience.

Roku:

How do I get to Settings on classic Roku players?

From Roku home screen, select “settings.” You can use settings to change your network configuration, your display type, audio mode

and sound effects. You can also turn on/off a screensaver, change Netflix settings and update your Roku software. [Unofficial]

Hidden menu Roku trick (may not work with all models/versions): If you wish to set the speed of your connection for video streaming

manually on the Roku video player, there is a code you can enter to access the speed override settings.

From the Home screen, press the Home button 5 times, the Rewind button 3 times, and the Fast Forward button

2 times.

A screen will appear where you can set the speed you desire.

Amazon Prime Video:

Amazon, the largest e-commerce corporation in the world, offers a premium member service called Amazon Prime. If you subscribe to the Amazon Prime service then you get many benefits like the speedy delivery of the products you purchase from Amazon and access to Amazon Prime Video which is the online on-demand video streaming service from Amazon. You can watch TV shows, movies, documentaries along with the special programs specially made for Amazon. Prime Video app is available for Android or iPhone, but you can also use any web browser on your desktop computer to watch the TV shows or movies on Prime Video.

When using the Prime Video app on your smartphone, you have the choice to watch the video stream online or download it to your device for watching later. In both the cases, you can choose the quality of the video that can be streamed or downloaded to your device. Here is how:

1. Launch the Prime Video app in your smartphone. 2. Tap on the menu icon and select Settings from the menu.

3. On the Amazon Video Settings screen tap on Stream & Download option.

4. On the Stream & Download screen, you can tap on Streaming Quality and Download Quality to change the respective video qualities.

5. You can choose the video quality from data saver, good, better, best or the highest quality possible. If you choose the highest quality, you should make sure that you have a really fast internet connection. An internet connection of around 8 Mbps minimum will be good enough for watching these movies without having to sit down and waste your time staring at that spinning circle that shows that video is buffering. If the movie is buffering a lot, perhaps you can choose to download it and watch it later when it has finally finished downloading completely.
