In 1876 Edinburgh-born scientist Alexander Graham Bell patented n his Invention of the telephone. The following year, the great American inventor Thomas Edison produced the first working telephone. With telephones soon becoming rapidly available, the days of letter writing became numbered. Another life-transforming invention was the computer. British mathematician Charles Babbage designed a form of computer in the mid1830s, but it was not until more than a century later the theory was put into practice. Now, a whole generation has grown up with calculators, and computer games, the Internet and have transformed communication and information.

With telephones soon becoming rapidly available, the days of letter writing became numbered. Another life-transforming invention was the computer. British mathematician Charles Babbage designed a form of computer in the mid1830s, but it was not until more than a century later the theory was put into practice. Now, a whole generation has grown up with calculators, and computer games, the Internet andhave transformed communication and information. Internet- is a kind of information transport ranking with mail, phone,telegraph,television,and the radio. It combines all their capabilities and at the same time compliments them with its specific, unique features. Word Wide Web The Web is just one of the services that runs on the Internet. It is the best-known and the most widely used information resource on the Internet. The Web is a network of information in the form of hypertext. Hypertext enables the user to move between different elements of web pages, or between websites by means of links. A website consists of one or many web pages. They are written in a special programming language called Hyper Text Mark-Up Language(HTML) The main page of a website is the home page. It may contain a site map or a main menu. The first computers were people! That is, electronic computers (and the earlier mechanical computers) were given this name because they performed the work that had previously been assigned to people. Computers was originally a job title: it was used to describe those human beings (predominantly women) whose job It was to perform the repetitive calculations required to compute such things as navigational tables, tide charts, and planetary positions for astronomical almanacs. Imagine you had a job where hour after hour, day after day, you were to do nothing but computer multination's. Boredom would quickly set in, leading to carelessness, leading to mistakes.
