This map seeks to list and locate current independence movements. It focuses on peoples and areas seeking sovereignty and self-determination rather than autonomy within a larger state. The motivations of the peoplesconverge around cultural, ethnic, religious, linguistic, racial and historical forces. There are no doubt errors and omissions here, but we might look forward to an additional 300 counties in the future, in addition to considerable tribal strife.
