Hello Everyone,
E-Kindy Pod
I have had notice that our funding for the E-Kindy pod should be
coming through soon to begin this term. Families from Sarina
Range who have a child enrolled into the E-Kindy program are able
to join the pod. This will be held one day a week at the Range
Campus. Start date will be shared as soon as we have had
confirmation on the set-up of the pod. This will be run by a pod
facilitator, who will provide and run activities sent through by the
Kindy Teacher. The pod is limited to four places, and we currently
have 2 Sarina Range students enrolled. We will have space for 2
more children. Anyone wishing to participate should sign up with
E-Kindy.
Basketball Backboards
We have just had some new Basketball Backboards arrive for us to replace the older ones we are currently using. We are looking for some volunteer helpers (with ladders) who are handy with tools that could help Mr Campbell put them up.
Under 8’s Day
Just a reminder that Under 8’s day will be happening at school for all our students who are under 8 years of age. We ask that all these students bring along a family member on the day to walk around the activities with them, or organise a friend to do so. All younger siblings and family members are also welcome on the day. All Range Campus students have been invited down for the day. Students in older year levels will have this day as an opportunity to practices athletics on the school oval with Miss Zelenka.
After-school Pick-ups
Just a reminder for parents to arrive at school for pick-ups at 3pm. Students not picked up at this time must remain under the shelter. Students cannot play on the playground or around other areas of the school without supervision.
Teacher-Aide Relief
We are currently seeking a teacher-aide for relief at the Range Campus for an approximate three week block in May/June. Anyone who is interested please send a CV in to the school. Thank you.

Social – Emotional Focus: I Messages
When you’re angry with people, it’s easy to blame them for whatever happened. But when you blame other people, they often get angry with you. Then, everyone ends up with hurt feelings. You can use I-messages to tell other people what you really want, without judging, confronting, or blaming them. You can also use I-messages to express other feelings, like happiness or fear. I-messages always focus on what the speaker feels, rather than blaming the listener.
Here’s how an I-message works: 1. Say what you feel (I FEEL…) 2. Tell what the other person did that upset you (WHEN YOU…) 3. Describe how you were affected (BECAUSE…) 4. State what would make the situation better for you (AND I WANT…) For example, let’s imagine that Jenny told Sara a secret, which Sara then told Kevin. Jenny is very angry, so she tells Sara: “I FEEL angry WHEN YOU tell my secret BECAUSE I asked you not to AND I WANT you to apologize and never do that again.”
Book Fair!
Next week at Swayneville Main Campus we will be holding the Book Fair. This will be open for students throughout the week to come through and browse the books they may like to purchase. This is also a great opportunity for our school to receive some news books for the school library. Students from the Range Campus will have the opportunity to come and browse/order form the book fair on Tuesday 22nd May. We will be holding different games and activities during next week for the book fair. Colouring Competition We will be holding a colouring competition, judged on Tuesday 22nd May. Students can take a picture from school this week (given out by teachers). These must be handed in by the afternoon of Monday 21st. The winners in each category (Prep, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6) will receive a voucher for the book fair. Dress Up Day/ Free Dress In matching with the theme this year, we will be doing a dress up day in the theme of “Paws”. If students have an outfit of an animal at home with paws they can dress up as this animal. Students who do not have a dress up already, can come to school in free dress. At lunchtimes we will be making animal masks, for students to wear as their dress up. We would like to stress that we do not wish families to go out of their way for this dress up, but rather that this is a casual fun day. Matching Paws Competition Next week we will be holding a competition for students to match the pictures of Swayneville Staff with their pets! Mrs Richards will have more information on how to participate in this game.
