Wow...what a first couple of weeks our new Year 7s have had!
They have settled down fantastically as a year group and seem
to be enjoying lessons. This week saw them head off to Nell
Bank Activity Centre. I and G band have already enjoyed their
visit, S Band will head down on Friday.
They have been focussed on getting involved (one of their
Green Tie Values!) and have been building new friendships
and becoming part of their Learning Community.
Good luck to S band on Friday...we’re sure you will enjoy it as
much as I and G Band!

Key Stage 3 Clubs Fair It was great to see so many of you at the Clubs’ Fair on Tuesday, there was a great atmosphere in P Hall and an enormous selection of clubs on offer from coding to creative writing and sports to strategy clubs. Did you join up and join in? Don’t worry it’s never to late to join a club. Details of all extra curricular activities are included on the following two pages.
Mr Washington
Please take care during lunch and break times to ensure your litter ends up in the right place...a bin! There are sufficient bins in both the Courtyard Café and B Hall to ensure that eating areas are left litter free after lunchtimes. Can we remind you that the Year 9 Centre is for Year 9 only and students enjoying the use of this space must treat it with respect...sitting on seats and not on the floor. Can we also ask you not to use C8 as a short cut to the Courtyard Café...it is a classroom not a corridor! Persistent litter offenders will be dealt with via our PB system.
Mr Calvert
Uniform Matters You all know how important we think uniform is at Ilkley Grammar School and this week we are particularly interested in your ties! We are proud of our school crest and want to see it proudly displayed on all ties. Are you unsure about how to wear your tie? Here’s a quick guide on how to avoid a comment:

Challenge and Celebration Week 2016 All Key Stage 3 students must hand in their Challenge and celebration
week option forms into their tutors no later than Monday 21st September and all deposits must be uploaded to Parentpay by Friday
25th September.
European Day of Languages Saturday 26th September is European Day of Languages and every year students studying Modern Foreign Languages get the chance to do something a bit different in class that week. This year it will be celebrated in school on Wednesday 23rd September – a date to add to your diary! The EU has designated this day to celebrate cultural diversity and we will lay on a host of activities for you. For example, you will have the opportunity to answer the register in an array of European languages and carry out a variety of fun and informative activities in lessons. This year, Year 7 will be able to try dishes from around Europe as a local business will be hosting a sampling session of traditional Spanish dishes. This day will provide you with an excellent opportunity, to throw yourselves enthusiastically into the tasks demonstrating what good European citizens you are.
Mr Kehoe
Ilkley Juniors Need You! Ilkley Juniors Girls’ U15 football team are looking for new players to join their squad. If you are in Year 10 and fancy giving football a try, why not go along to their next training session. Training is held on a Tuesday at Ben Rhydding Sports Club, runs from 6-7pm and newcomers will be made very welcome. Matches are held at the weekends. For more information please get in touch with the coach, Jim Dale on [email protected] or 07799587367.
