In giving, we receive...

Annual Catholic AppealDiocese of Springfield

A Message from Our Bishop“In giving, we receive.” The message is taken from the Peace Prayer of St. Francis. The theme for the Diocese of Springfield 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal calls us to share in our mission to bring God’s peace to our world and to inspire hope in the hearts of people. Through your collective giving, thousands of people across the four counties of western Massachusetts receive educational, pastoral, social outreach, and other services in measures far beyond the abilities of one single donation.

Where there is despair, ministries supported by the Annual Catholic Appeal bring hope. Where there is doubt, our ministries put our faith into action. Where there is darkness and misunderstanding, our services reach out in support.

Truly it is in giving that we receive God’s blessing. With your contribution, we will meet the ever growing needs of our neighbors, communicate the message of God’s mercy, and show the world through our actions that as Catholics we live our faith.

Chalice of SalvationCelebrating 60 years, Chalice of Salvation is the weekly Sunday Mass broadcast to residents of Western Massachusetts. Originating from

the Holy Spirit Chapel within St. Michael’s Cathedral, Chalice of Salvation is the largest attended Mass in the Diocese of

Springfield as more than 10,000 households tune in each week. It is the production of Catholic Communications Ministry.

“I want to let you know how much I enjoy the Chalice of Salvation. It brings me so much comfort and joy. My mom and dad also loved your program. Thank you to all those who help to put it on the air.”

A faith-based center located in North Adams, New Direction services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling,

life skill and parenting classes.

“I just didn’t think I was ready. We were able to have an ultrasound and that was the end of not having my baby. Now, I know what love is. He’s my whole world.”

Homework HouseCelebrating 10 years of after school educational help for at-risk

children, Homework House of Holyoke serves children in kindergarten through sixth grade with the support of 250 volunteers.

Working from two locations, the focus is on assisting economically disadvantaged children with their homework and remedial skills

in reading and math.

“The funding we receive from the Annual Catholic Appeal is a key component of our program. We are grateful for the rock solid support the ACA provides as we work to improve the educational outcomes for children most at risk of academic failure.”
