Paperhouse Studio has collaborated with Toronto-based artists to highlight a material that is so familiar that it is often invisible - paper! Ten established and emerging artists, who thoughtfully use materials, have been invited to experiment and collaborate with expert papermakers Emily Cook and Flora Shum. They have worked one-on-one with the artists, asking the question: “What does it mean to think with paper?” Each artist has donated half of the new work that they have created in support of the studio and its programming. Works made for the first benefit exhibition will be on view at: TYPOLOGY Projects from March 10th to March 20th, 2016, gallery hours: Thursday - Sunday, 12pm-5pm. Paperhouse Studio is pleased to host a casual conversation with select In House artists from the show starting from 6pm. Following the conversation, please join us for a reception at TYPOLOGY Projects (unit 302) from 7pm until 11pm. Delicious cocktails, oysters and hors d’oeuvres will be provided by our event partners. Paperhouse Studio is a vibrant, educational and art production facility. We provide expertise and a dedicated, fully-equipped studio for artists to discover the potential of handmade paper in their contempo-rary art practices. Located at Artscape Youngplace in downtown Toronto, our studio is an experimental space in which to explore all manner of paper-related arts. Alongside our artist projects, we run workshops spanning from beginner to professional level. Additionally, we run a volunteer-for-rent program that offers young and emerging artists a space to create their artwork in exchange for their time.
