Reyes Munoz was born on January 7, 1916 in Yselta Texas to parents Reyes Sr. and Aurelia (Villa) Munoz. He began his education in Yselta. When he was 10 years old his family relocated to Sidney MT, where he then graduated high school in 1936. After graduation Reyes joined the CCC. He was stationed in the Glacier Park area. When he inished his term with the CCC he returned to Sidney and began working on local farms. On November 15, 1939 he married his angel Audrey Quick in Miles City, MT. They were blessed with 5 children: Ron, Carmen, Richard, Linda and Nancy. From 1937 to 1939 Reyes worked for the Green Giant Canning Factory in Montgomery, MN. From 1941 to 1945 he worked as a labor supervisor and interpreter for the Mexican Migrant Workers in Minnesota as well as Dayton WA. In 1944 he began his Holly Sugar career until he retired in 1979.

Reyes was a Golden Glove boxer. In 1939 and 1941 he was crowned the featherweight champion for Southern Montana. Boxing was a huge part of his life, he along with Budd Starr coached the renowned Fairview Golden Gloves Boxing Club as well. He was an avid Sidney Eagles fan, faithfully going to home games and supporting his local team. He also took great pride in gardening and yard work. He enjoyed playing cards with his kids and reading in his down time.

Reyes was a quiet person and a true gentleman. He relied heavily on honesty and his faith in God; in return a handshake from Reyes was the "real deal."
