April is a beautiful month of new beginnings. The beauty of the birds, flowers and trees that accompany quiet walks in the park, along the Neuse River, or in our neighborhoods is a peaceful renewing time of the year. Springtime! In our own lives, we go through seasons very similar to the four seasons of the year. Janice Virtue and Russ Moxley shared with me one time that springtime is a renewal time in the midst of the muck and the mire of everyday life. After the long hard winters where our roots have to dig deep in order to survive the cold dark winter, springtime has a two-fold renewal. In the early part of spring, there is often a lot of rain. This rain sometimes forces us to be inside at times. When the ground is muddy after a rain, you know that the water will nourish the ground to bring forth beautiful flowers and blossoms in a couple of weeks. This mucky time is our sins being washed by the blood of the Lamb of God. Think about what sins you want to confess and share them with Jesus now. The later part of spring, the beauty that flowers and blossoms leap up from the soil and branches. This renewal is the joy of springtime. A rebirth from our old self into new life with God. In this later part of spring the growth that comes from the nourishing April showers blesses us with May flowers, and in our own lives we can see that evident in the renewed joy and excitement of Jesus working in our lives and the lives of those we love. Think about what you would like to see new or renewed again in your life this spring and share it with Jesus now.

April is a beautiful month of new beginnings. The beauty of the birds, flowers and trees

that accompany quiet walks in the park, along the Neuse River, or in our neighborhoods is a

peaceful renewing time of the year. Springtime!

In our own lives, we go through seasons very similar to the four seasons of the year.

Janice Virtue and Russ Moxley shared with me one time that springtime is a renewal time in

the midst of the muck and the mire of everyday life. After the long hard winters where our

roots have to dig deep in order to survive the cold dark winter, springtime has a two-fold

renewal.

In the early part of spring, there is often a lot of rain. This rain sometimes forces us to

be inside at times. When the ground is muddy after a rain, you know that the water will nourish

the ground to bring forth beautiful flowers and blossoms in a couple of weeks. This mucky

time is our sins being washed by the blood of the Lamb of God. Think about what sins you

want to confess and share them with Jesus now.

The later part of spring, the beauty that flowers and blossoms leap up from the soil and

branches. This renewal is the joy of springtime. A rebirth from our old self into new life with

God. In this later part of spring the growth that comes from the nourishing April showers

blesses us with May flowers, and in our own lives we can see that evident in the renewed joy

and excitement of Jesus working in our lives and the lives of those we love. Think about what

you would like to see new or renewed again in your life this spring and share it with Jesus now.

please Remember In Prayer:

A Purification

I poured my life into a filter To rid it of all the muck and mire

To relieve my soul of all the impurities That made life seem as though I was struggling in briars

A pure filter to renew my mind Of all that was sick, eroding and natural

And now I pass through the long dark tea time of the soul Into the eternal light of Jesus, my Lord

May springtime be an uplifting time of renewal within your heart and soul.

“A Celebration of Life”

Easter came April 1, It was early this year.

We celebrated all God’s given gifts,

And a Savior who’s very dear.

Flowers are already starting to bloom, Spring is in the air.

Grass is growing, lawn mowers are mowing,

Gardens really need care.

Like beauty in springtime Jesus lights up our lives,

He offers us stability, keeps us from strife. Thank the Lord for His love sent to us

From heaven above.

Enjoy the spring, let’s hope for nice weather,

Picnics, fun laughter, friends getting together.

Blue birds flying, songs they are singing, A risen Savior, church bells merrily ringing.

Best wishes for a happy spring.

Love and Hugs,

Diane Harper

Thank You Thank you to the whole Trinity Family for all of your support, team work, and fellowship at the Annual Barbecue. About 850 plates were made with loving hands and over $4000.00 will be split equally by the UMM and UMW for many good works. Way to Go! Church Family for all you did.

Ellie Stockton Circle Event Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. when the Ellie Stockton Circle will present an evening of down home fun! Enjoy a delicious dinner of St. Louis BBQ pork steak, hash brown casserole, baked beans, cornbread and cobbler with musical entertainment from the band Smokehouse. Cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children under 10. See you there!

A big thank you goes out to all the folks who helped make the bake sale a success! Profits from the UMW bake sale totaled $310.50. Almost all the goodies were sold. Do you like to read? Do you like to read? I do. I remember reading my entire life, beginning when I was very young. I devoured books of all types and throughout my life, have gone through any number of genres as favorites. I still love to read, enjoying mysteries and history books, as well as books about our society. If you like to read, you may be particularly interested in our

Mission for the month of April, Reading and Literacy. One of the pillars of the Congregations for Children (C4C) that is the framework for our partnership with Trent Park Elementary (TPE) is improving K-3 Literacy. This involves tutoring reading, reading to small groups, helping in the school library, and other interactions with the students. In the past, members of Trinity have helped purchase books and worked one-on-one tutoring students. We helped with the Fall Book Fair last year and purchased selected books for some of the classes. During April, TPE will be holding their annual Spring Book Fair. The theme of the Book Fair will be pet-centered, as in Paws for Books, Reading is Pawsitive, Book Fair-Come, Sit, Stay. Scholastic Books will be in the library on April 18th to set up. Preview Day for students and parents will be the 19th, and sales for the fair will run from the 20th through the 30th of April. In addition, Science Night will be held on the 26th during the Book Fair. Hours for the fair are 8 to 11 AM for the morning shift and 12 to 3 PM for the afternoon shift. Science Night will run from 4 to 7 PM. Volunteers are needed for any and all of the shifts, along with Science Night. While the Book Fair has its serious side, it is also a lot of fun. Helping the students find books that they can afford is really satisfying, and learning about characters such as Peppa Pig and Captain Underpants opens up an entirely new genre to us old timers! I invite you all to join us for this important event and help support reading and improving literacy at TPE. Reading well is crucial in enabling students to succeed. Studies have shown that students who cannot read at grade level by the end of third grade will struggle throughout the rest of their school years and, really, for the rest of their lives. The United Methodist Church recognizes this and therefore has put a strong emphasis on K through 3rd Grade literacy. Sign-up sheets will be posted on the Welcome Center bulletin board for your consideration. The Mission Team will be sharing more about our new missions and other activities in future articles. We hope that you enjoy the articles and find time to join us. Jerry Egolf, [email protected], 240-486-1123

Her interests include family, friends, music, gardening, and walking on the beach. She had an exciting career in the banking industry and after retiring, she was an instructor at Craven Community College in the Continuing Education Dept. She also has had the awesome opportunity of being a speaker for the Christian Women’s Club for the past 25 years sharing God’s love and His plan of salvation. Annis loves the old hymns and one of her favorites is “In the Garden”. Her favorite scripture is Ecclesiastes 3:1-14, A Time for Everything. Carol May Carol is married to Glenn, and has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Her husband, a WWII veteran, is a resident at HomePlace Assisted Living. Her 3 children are; daughter Francine, who lives in Oxnard, CA, son Donald, a captain in the Navy, stationed in Ohio, and daughter Christine, living in Staunton, VA. Carol loves to play cards and knit. She was a knitwear designer and worked for major yarn companies, and had patterns published in books and magazines. While in California, Carol also enjoyed knitting prayer shawls for her church, and lap robes for the Shriners Hospital. She says she has been blessed by a perfect marriage, amazing family and friends, and the opportunity to travel all over the world. Her favorite hymn is “Amazing Grace”. Bob and Jerri Fiolek Bob and Jerri come to us from First UMC, Havelock, where they were members for 20 years. They have 4 children, 3 living in North Carolina and 1 in New York, and have been married for 53 years. Bob served in the US Marine Corp for 11 years and retired from the US Air Force. He is also retired from the New York State Attorney General’s office for Medicaid Fraud as a Senior Special Investigator. Jerri is a retired Registered Nurse. They both love reading, and volunteering with the Red Cross and RCS Soup Kitchen. Their passions are serving Jesus Christ, church and family. Jerri’s favorite scripture is Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to love is Christ and to die is gain”. Bob’s favorite is Jeremiah 17:14, “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Their favorite hymns are “I sing the Almighty Power of God” and “Trust and Obey”. Bob and Jerri have expressed how grateful they are to the Trinity family for the warm welcome they have received. Stan and Dorothy Rinehart Stan and Dotty join us from Centenary UMC where they were members for many years. They moved to New Bern after Stan retired from US Steel in Pittsburg, PA.. They were looking for nicer weather and found a home here. They have a son and daughter. Son, Ron, lives in New Bern with his wife, Donna, (Clarine Acasio’s daughter). Their daughter, Sandra, lives in Durham, and is a nurse at Duke Hospital. The Rinehart’s have 3 grandchildren. Dorothy is a resident at Croatan Village Assisted Living. Stan has enjoyed boating and fishing. He also enjoys working outside in his yard. Stan came to Trinity because he had known Pastor Charlene and was attracted to the smaller, friendly congregation of Trinity. We are so happy to have these new members join our Trinity family! We look forward to serving God together!
