The importance of cultural education, equality and

inclusivity can be seen and is embraced throughout

the six Northern Ontario colleges and cities.

Northern Ontario has a vibrant population of visible

minorities, including immigrants, international

students and urban indigenous individuals.

Thousands of students from Southeast Asia, India,

China and Africa decided to make the move to a

Study North college, and that number is growing

year after year!

All Study North colleges welcome diversity and

encourage inclusive events to make students feel

at home. There is a strong presence of the LGBTQ+

community in Northern Ontario. Organizations

such as Northern Pride and Rainbow Camp work

to educate and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

Each Study North college has a dedicated LGBTQ+

student club that students are encouraged to join!

Study North colleges take great pride in Northern

Ontario’s Indigenous culture. Each college provides

opportunities for students to be a part of and learn

about cultural rituals including powwows and smudging

ceremonies that take place regularly on campus.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY IN NORTHERN ONTARIO Whether you’re from Brampton or Bangladesh,

Caledon or China, Newmarket or Namibia, Study

North colleges will ensure your college experience

and life in Northern Ontario will be your new home

away from home.

even the back row feels up close and personal.

"I applied to multiple colleges north

of the Greater Toronto Area, but

ultimately chose Northern College as

it is listed as one of the top schools for

NCLEX passing rates. Certainly the class

size and clinical opportunities have aided.

I enjoyed learning in a small class environment as it

provided a lot of one-on-one opportunities not only in

class, but also in clinical settings."
