Let us pray for a healthy New Year In remembrance: On Jan. 27, 1973, the United States, South Vietnam, Viet- Cong and North Vietnam signed the Paris Peace Accords, effectively ceasing the American involvement in the Vietnam War. Statistics: 58,220 US. military members died. 1.3 million fighters on both sides died total in the war. 1 million civilians died in the war. 2,594,000 US. military personnel served in South Vietnam. 1,621 US. soldiers who were POW/MIA have never been accounted for. 304,000 US. military personnel were wounded. 75,000 American Vietnam veterans are severely disabled. The next Post membership and business meeting is on Wednesday, January 20th at 6:30pm. Hope to see all available members at these mandatory meetings. VFW Mid-winter conference is Friday January 29 th thru Sunday 31 st at the Florida Hotel & Conference Center, located on1500 Sand Lake Road , Orlando, FL. Attend if you can. If you are thinking of having lunch at the Post, Mondays are $5.00 Burger day, which includes a free Miller High Life beer or Ice tea. That’s a good deal! Don't forget we still require face covers and social distancing to keep everyone safe and healthy. Also, get a Covid-19 vaccination when/if possible. The medical equipment shed is full. If you or anyone you know, needs a wheelchair(electric or manual), walker, portable potty, shower chair, cane or crutches, they are available for lone-out. Let’s all stay positive and hope and pray this is a better year! We had a busy December. We had our Christmas Luncheon, which was a huge success. Thank you Carol, Eileen, our Post servers, and of course, Chef George for the wonderful meals he cooked up for us! I’d also like to thank everyone who helped make this a great success and for donating door prizes! We finally closed out the calendar raffle fundraiser with Mary B. being the winner! Congratulations Mary. Also in December was the drawing of the lottery tree raffle for the Presidents Special Project, Heroes on the Water. Congratulations Kathy E. on your win! January is off to a busy start. We have BINGO every Thursday. We are still looking for volunteers to help deliver food from 4-6pm. Saturday, January 9 th is the car show breakfast from 9-12. Again we are looking for volunteers to help serve food and clear the tables. Any time you can give would be greatly appreciated, even 30 minutes is a big help!! Right after the breakfast is our board meeting at 12:15. Our general meeting is Wednesday the 20 th at 4pm in the main hall. On Saturday, the 23 rd is our Victory Casino Cruise fundraiser. The ship has excellent precautions in place to keep everyone safe! Sign up is in the canteen. If you have any questions about it, just see or call me. The last thing, so far this month, is the Mid-Winter Conference in Orlando the 29 th -30 th . It’s being held at The Florida Hotel and Conference Center at the Florida Mall. You can really learn a lot by attending and it’s a fun time. Our auxiliary membership is doing well, however, we really need to keep recruiting new members. There are brochures with information in the main hall. Let’s try to do more recruiting!! Let’s all have a Healthy and Happy New Year and work together to make this one the BEST!!!!
