Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC)Founded in 1976, the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (formerly
the Ibero American Chamber) is a membership driven organization that supports the
economic development of the Washington, DC metropolitan region by facilitating the
success of Latino and other minority-owned businesses and the communities they
serve through networking, advocacy, education, and access to capital.
The Chamber envisions building a stronger business network for the competitive
future of the region.

ANNUAL MINORITY BUSINESS EXPOThe Minority Business Expo is a unique event emphasizing the important
role of Hispanic entrepreneurs in the D.C. Metropolitan Area. The Business
Expo launched in 2010, and has since increased from 70 exhibitors to
160, and from 500 attendees to 1,500 in 2017. The Expo is our premier
event connecting Hispanic and other minority-owned businesses, as well
as embassies and other countries.
ANNUAL GALAThe Annual Gala is one of our largest networking events and is
celebrated by members, sponsors, partner organizations, and the
community-at-large. This event highlights the immense influence of the
Hispanic leaders and business owners of the area. In past years,
GWHCC has honored Hispanic men and women working in medicine, IT,
and construction, as well as other leaders from across the region.
HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATIONThe GWHCC celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, inviting more than
200 elected officials and representatives from the local and federal
government, non-profits, business owners, and embassies to celebrate
the Hispanic culture and traditions, and honor a Hispanic Business owner
or leader that supports the region’s minority business community.
EMBASSY CELEBRATION DINNER SERIESThe Embassy Celebration Dinner Series, launched in 2008, is the
Chamber’s only private event. The Embassy Dinner celebrates
Latin American leaders and organizations that are making a difference
in commercial affairs and international trade in the Western Hemisphere.
Special guests have included ambassadors from Latin America,
representatives of the Hispanic Caucus from the U.S. Congress,
and government officials. Every year the Chamber selects one Latin
official to honor.
HOLIDAY RECEPTIONGWHCC celebrates members and sponsors with this very special
reception at the end of each year. More than 200 members and friends
of the Chamber get together for the opportunity to enjoy GWHCC’s last
networking event before the New Year.

DC Health Link is established in District law, locally
managed and controlled, financially sound and going
strong. DC Health Link has 20 private health insurance
options to choose from for residents and their families
from CareFirst and Kaiser Permanente. For 2017 small
businesses have 151 health plan options from Aetna,
CareFirst, Kaiser and United. Individuals and families
can enroll if they qualify for a special enrollment due
to a change in their life like getting married. Small
businesses can sign up throughout the year. Residents
can apply for Medicaid throughout the year.
Events DC is the face of conventions, sports, entertainment and cultural events
within our nation’s capital. As the official convention and sports authority for the
District of Columbia, Events DC leverages the beauty, history and diversity of
the most powerful city in the world to attract and promote an extensive variety
of events, resulting in amazing experiences for residents and visitors alike, and
generating economic and community benefits for the city.

The DC Health Link designated the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce (GWHCC) to inform, educated and help small businesses based
in Washington DC, to find the best health insurance options, while enabling
businesses to receive tax credits and additional benefits.
5 6TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's mission is to promote
and facilitate the success of Hispanic and other minority-owned businesses and the
communities they serve through networking, outreach, advocacy, and education. Our
Technical Assistance Program provides training, skills and business opportunities to
entrepreneurs and existing business.
The program will allow experienced consultants and business owners to provide one on
one counseling and help small businesses improve processes, financial and business
planning, licenses and registration, marketing strategies and Access to capital.
The Technical Assistance Program’s goals are:
• Improve and retain existing small businesses
• Guide start-up entrepreneurs to begin and grow successful enterprises
• Draw more local customers to small independent businesses
• Connect business to certification opportunities
• Create job opportunities
