MESSAGE FROM THE RECREATION TEAM It has been a hot and dry summer and most of the community have enjoyed the pool season. Sadly it is coming to an end with pools closing on March 12. We will be completing some works at Maldon pool during the winter season which will ensure the water quality is at its best for the opening of next season. As the pools close remember that it is finals seasons for some sports and the winter season commences for others. We encourage you to get out and support your local team and get involved in any way you can. Works have also commenced at many of our Recreation Reserves and updates will be available on Council’s website or contact us if you have any questions. Recreation ProjectsSome of the works recently completed... Big Tree Park Playground - The playground has been installed at Big Tree Park in Guildford. Whilst there was an initial delay in delivery of the cubbyhouse roof this did not stop the playground being open to the Guildford community in time for the summer school break on the 14 December 2012. Some of the works on the go... Over the coming months there will be multiple works being undertaken on our reserves and tennis courts.  Council has reprioritised some of the works identified in the Annual Plan to undertake priority works at the following facilities - Newstead, Bill Woodfull, Campbells Creek and Wesley Hill Recreation Reserves.  Also getting some attention will be the Taradale and Guildford Tennis courts and the Guildford Saddle Club.  Campbells Creek Park redevelopment will be in full swing with works due to be completed by June 2013.  For more information check Council’s website. Some of the strategic moves... Investing In Play Spaces 2013 -2023 Strategy will guide the development of play spaces across the shire and will be completed later this year.

What sport and recreation activities are you interested in?

Football, water skiing and athletics.

If you could participate in the Olympics, what sport would you most like to compete in?

I spent 13 years trying to get to the Olympics for sprinting so I guess I better say that.

The community is so passionate and involved, it’s great that a community wants to be involved in the things we do.
