• In the current climate it’s natural for all families to worry about jobs and how they might cope with paying their rent, mortgages and bills.

• One in six adults aged 18 to 24 in England are so-called "neets" (not in education, employment or training), the Department for Children, Schools and Families statistics from April to June show.

• The rise is thought to be fuelled by the recession and a shortage of jobs for young people

SURVIVING THE RECESSION

• This scheme of work has a strong focus on communities, and this financial PSHE scheme is a package for young people to promote collective family learning.

• There are units within this first scheme that have parent and child worksheets on each individual topic areas to complete together.

• The scheme of work will have an ongoing impact on families lives and also will help our young generation make better choices when it comes to money.

The resources are designed to simulate discussion and family learning within the home, improving financial competence and understanding. This will significantly reduce the stress levels currently present with the ever looming recession and economic down turn.

•New Line Learning Academy has a vision to combine school based learning in financial awareness into the community

•We have achieved this by integrating learning resources into the community for both parents and children to use concurrently to achieve families working together.

•The resources have been designed by myself and our young students here at New Line Learning Academy.

•This will help primary level students and their families have more financial awareness. This will give young pupils and families a greater understanding of the concepts of money. This scheme of work can also work for secondary students.
