We are looking for people with an interest in natureconservation to join the new Friends of the AquadromeLocal Nature Reserve (LNR) group.

The Aquadrome local nature reserveThe 41 hectare site was formed through gravelextraction which left behind large holes in the valleyfloor. These naturally filled with water to createBatchworth and Bury Lake.

Over 80 years later the Aquadrome LNR is home to anabundance of wildlife, from the swans and moorhensswimming on the lakes, to the damselflies anddragonflies darting amongst the wildflowers.

You can helpAt the heart of the Aquadrome LNR is its natural beautywhich we believe should be conserved for futuregenerations to enjoy. This is where we need you. As aFriend you could be:

n leading groups on a guided tour

n conducting opinion surveys

n having an input in the overall management plan

n planting bulbs to encourage more butterflies

n watching out to see if otters have returned

Some of the work is physical and would mean workingin rain or shine, but there's not a better'office' around for miles! Doing physicalwork can count towards the 30 minutesof exercise we should be doing everyday, so not only will you be lookingafter the Aquadrome, you'll be lookingafter yourself.
