Clarity RMSClarity RMS™ is a critical care monitoring system that continuously measures urine flow, automatically transmitting to the medical staff real-time data, and alerts of fluctuations, on a 24/7 basis. This information, which reflects changes in renal function, provides an early sign of AKI risk and facilitates rapid intervention. In addition, it is invaluable for monitoring treatment efficacy and managing fluid balance.

The Clarity RMS Electronic Sensor

easily connects to a Foley catheter, where it continuously and reliably measures critical fluctuations in urine flow. In addition, real time core body temperature can be measured, when used with a temperature-sensing Foley catheter, to extend the range of diagnostic parameters for patient screening and risk assessment.

The Clarity RMS Console –

Embedded technology in this battery-powered* bedside monitor continuously calculates and transmits real-time data from the sensor directly to all hospital information systems, simultaneously displaying it graphically onscreen.

*provides 15 days of continuous power

The Clarity RMS Intelligent Alarm System

alerts the medical team as soon as the

patient’s urine flow rate is beyond the threshold set by the user for urine output

(ml/kg/hour), based on the RIFLE, AKIN, and KDIGO criteria.

Patented Electronic Sensor Technology:

✔ Measures real-time flow of urine, independently of changes in composition and concentration

✔ Highly sensitive measurements, required for patients with low urine flow

✔ Designed for seamless integration in the critical care environment

✔ Can be used with any existing, indwelling Foley catheter

Clinical Applications:

“Major questions remain in the ICU about when AKI begins and how to manage fluids in the face of established renal failure. Both of these concerns affect patient outcomes as they are critically important to the decisions about when to initiate and when to stop CRRT, as well to avoid the devastating effect of pulmonary edema in the ICU.

Clarity RMS provides important input into these decisions by giving reliable and continuous

real-time information on urine flow, staging of AKI, and responsiveness to fluids and diuretics and by providing accurate output data to calculate fluid balance.”Robert Safirstein MD, Professor of Medicine, Yale University

• AKI RISK ASSESSMENT – identifying the need for intervention

• FLUID MANAGEMENT – evaluating responsiveness to treatment

• AKI STAGING – monitoring as per KDIGO recommendations

• FUROSEMIDE STRESS TESTING (FST) – predicting AKI progression

• CRRT MANAGEMENT – determining initiation and termination of CRRT

Improving ICU Economics with the Clarity RMSReducing the impact of AKI and improving fluid management in the ICU improves both patient care and ICU economics. Shorter lengths of stay and reduced readmissions can dramatically lower costs, increase patient turnover and improve ICU efficiency and performance. Clarity RMS is also aligned with the Fee for Service - Link to Quality payment model, and provides electronic documentation for AKI risk assessment and accurate billing.
