VOLUNTEER SERVICES
COMMITTEE
Volunteer recruiting for marshals,
forecaddies, scorers and standard
bearers will begin after the first of
the year. We will begin first with
CCC Members through the early
spring. We will then move to target-
ed groups from area golf clubs, col-
lege golf teams, high school teams,
First Tee families and finally the
general public. Our needs will be
great during the early days of the
tournament, as we will first host 156

Championship
Q: Why are we hosting a Championship?
A: This is what great clubs do and we have a storied tradi-
tion of hosting major amateur championships. This will be
the biggest championship we’ve hosted and it will allow us
to showcase the Country Club and Charleston to an inter-
national audience. We will be part of an international
Championship that dates back over 113 years. This champi-
onship features the best amateurs in the world and is only
played on the best courses in our country.
Being a part of this historic tradition is also a way to give
back to the golf community and to continue to be a leader
in the game of golf and our local community.
The Golf Channel will be televising the championship
internationally.
Q: Why do we have to raise money to host the
event?
A: The USGA provides only a modest amount of the fund-
ing needed to conduct the championship. There are many
costs associated with the championship, including transpor-
tation, security, administration, marketing and promotion,
two welcome parties, programs and brochures, and volun-
teer uniforms. Meeting our fundraising goals will help en-
sure a memorable first-class event for all the players and
officials.

Want to Volunteer? We Need You! The Country Club of Charleston’s Championship Committee in-
vites you to join us in hosting these amazing competitors by serving
as a volunteer on one of our committees. Volunteers are an inte-
gral part of the success of this championship and your support is
invaluable.
Nearly 400 volunteers will be needed to fulfill our host-site re-
sponsibilities to the United States Golf Association. Many commit-
tees, including scoring, gallery marshals, transportation and player
registration, are accepting volunteers in support of their efforts.
For information on available positions and brief job descriptions
please visit http://2013uswomensam.com/#volunteers and click
on the “download application link”.
Q: Why was the area near the maintenance shed
cleared?
A: The Golf Channel will be based there during the
week and require an area big enough to bring in four large
18 wheelers. Some of the debris in the area dated back to
Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
Q: Will there be a charge for admission to the
Championship?
A: No, admission to this event will be free.
A limited number of
calendars are
available for sale in
the pro shop.
