What is Islam? Islam is the name of the religion that Muslims follow. People who practice Islam are called Muslims, just like those who practice Christianity are called Christians. The word Islam had two meanings: 1. to submit. 2. to have peace. One meaning of Islam is to submit to Allah. To submit to Allah means to obey Allah’s rules. Islam also means peace. In Arabic, salama means to have peace or to feel safe. By following Islam, we want to have peace within us and peace with others. Names of Five Pillars of Islam 1. Shahaadah: Declaration of faith 2. Israf’el - Responsible or blowing the trumpet to destroy the universe on the Day of Judgement when Allah orders. The sound will destroy and kill everything in the earth and in the skies. All will come to life during the second blow with Allah's order. Other Important Angels: ● Kirāman-Kātibeen — Each person carries these two angels on their shoulders. “Kirāman” mans honorable and “kātibeen” means writers. That’s not their name; that’s the title Allah gave them in the Qur’ān.
