  • Composer Bill Conti is too well-known to dwell on at length, especially as he is essentially an American film composer, with many scores to his credit (Rocky the one that made his name), and with only fleeting contact with the Australian industry, though he did return to do the score to Film Australia's 1995 children's feature film, Napoleon.

Conti added to the sense that the film was a major creative package of international significance, but his score was heavily criticised by reviewers at the time, with some claiming it was overblown and over-the-top, and had a negative impact on the drama.

Conti has a detailed wiki here.

When he landed in Australia, Conti immediately attracted media attention, as with this story in the Sydney Morning Herald on 17th September 1984:

  • In the usual way, the score was released on LP and then later on CD:

  • The film features a band, Shark Attack, with Wilbur Wilde as lead singer and saxophonist. Wilde has a short wiki here. Others in the band were Paul Clark, Martin Holt, Marlon Holden, and Scott Thompson, though they're not identified individually in the credits.

The end credits give Wilde only one singing credit, performing Tim Finn's Fraction too much friction.

(Below: Wilde in action in the band in the film, and below that, various images of other members of the band in action in the film).
