BOCA MAKES A CAMEO ON MTV SHOW
MTV is adding to Palm Beach County‟s
reputation as a hot spot for pop culture.
The cable television network has been in
South Florida for 5 weeks to film 12 epi-
sodes of the second season of their hit
show, Is She Really Going Out With Him? Four episodes were
shot in Boca Raton at locations such as Red Reef Park, Log-
gers Run Park, and South Beach Park. Each half- hour episode
follows one couple through the reality of their daily life.
“I am ecstatic about the quality of the
crews here and the craftsmanship of their
work. They are truly experts in their fields.
I would give my experience shooting here
an 11 out of 10!,” said John Nelson, Supervising Producer.
The shows will air in January 2010 on MTV. Check your local list-
ings for air dates and times. MTV has filmed other shows in Palm
Beach County such as My Super Sweet 16 and Made. For more
information visit mtv.com.
CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF JEWISH FILMS
Two years ago, on the 18th anniversary of
the Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival
(PBJFF), Festival Director Karen Davis
was finally confident enough to say, “The
festival is now rooted and part of the community.” Davis was
proud to add that the JCC-sponsored PBJFF “is the oldest and
largest Jewish film festival in the south. We laid the foundation for
other film festivals and film series.” This year‟s festival celebrates
its milestone 20th year! Running from Dec. 2 through Dec. 13, it
features more than 30 films and documentaries from 10 countries.
The festival kicks off with A Matter of Size, a comedy about four
overweight men, who get tired of dieting, and decide to pursue an
activity where their size is an asset: sumo
wrestling! The film will be shown at the
Cobb Downtown 19 in Palm Beach Gar-
dens on Dec. 2 at 7:20pm and the Regal
Delray on Dec. 3 at 7:20pm. For more info

G-STAR BREAKS GROUND ON NEW SOUND STAGE!
G-Star Studios and the G-Star School of the
Arts for Motion Pictures and Broadcasting
broke ground for their new sound stage/theatre! The
new 45ft. high sound stage will join the already existing 93,000 sq. ft. movie
studio complex. “We were catering to $10 million and under budgeted films,”
says CEO Greg Hauptner. “When the new sound stage opens in May, 2010
we will add on the $25 million to $50 million dollar feature film category.”
The Grand Opening will present the world premiere of It’s a Dog Gone Tale: Destiny’s Stand, a new
feature film starring Barry Bostwick (Spin City) and Ron Palillo (Welcome Back Kotter) that was
produced at the G-Star Studios and is in post production now. G-Star‟s next fea-
ture film is in development now and will begin principal photography in June, 2010.
Another big announcement...Dean Lyon, a VFX Supervisor for all three Lord of
the Rings films, is starting a new studio at G-Star! Splinter Studios is a next
generation, talent driven, digital media and technology studio that will have special
emphasis on VFX/CGI and education. Splinter Studios will be based on G-Star‟s
back lot in the new year. Look for more info on Splinter Studios in an upcoming
newsletter. For more info on G-Star contact Greg Hauptner at 561.386.6275.

FILM LEADERS LOBBY FOR SUPPORT
The Florida State Capitol welcomed repre-
sentatives of Florida‟s film and entertainment
industry to the new Legislative Film, Enter-
tainment and Television Caucus. On hand
were Jeffrey Donovan, star of the televi-
sion show Burn Notice; Lucia Fishburne,
Florida‟s Film Commissioner; and several film
industry advocates. The group came to Tal-
lahassee to lobby for more state incentives
and promote the importance of the film/entertainment industry
to Florida‟s economy.
“This industry is vital to Florida‟s economic health and it is en-
couraging to see lawmakers recognize the industry‟s economic
impact," said Fishburne. The estimated economic impact of the
Florida film and entertainment industry grew from nearly $27
billion in 2003 to $29.2 billion in 2007 and was responsible for
over 207,000 jobs in Florida, generating nearly half a billion dollars
in tax revenues annually, according to the
Florida State Film Office.

LOCATION SPOTLIGHT: DUBOIS PARK IN JUPITER
DuBois Park located in the heart of Jupiter, is an
ideal beach location for productions. DuBois is situ-
ated next to a jetty and has over 1,200 feet of beach
frontage, with 100 feet being guarded, along a quiet
lagoon. Considered a “Mother‟s Beach” because of its
shallow, calm water, the park boasts a variety of ac-
tivities for visitors including swimming. Productions
needing talent to fish or surf can do so outside the guarded beach area. Small picnic areas with
grills are scattered around the beach with views of the Jupiter Lighthouse, while a larger picnic pavilion can be reserved and util-
ized as a filming location or a staging area. A playground area has a play structure for children ages 5-12 years. Restrooms and out-
door showers are also located within the park.
Also within the park is the DuBois Pioneer Home – National Register of Historical Places. The shingle-style home was built
in 1898, and is one of the oldest houses in Palm Beach County. Architecturally, the DuBois Home is typical of many houses built
along the New Jersey shore in the latter part of the 19th century. The house is constructed of Florida pine and in its day had cypress
shingles, which were later replaced with cedar. The interior walls are made of pine, fastened tongue in groove, and set on the diago-
nal for added strength during hurricanes. The interior walls were unpainted. The floor boards, in
accordance with the fashion of the day, were painted red. There was a machine made rug in the liv-
ing room and homemade rugs elsewhere. A large parking
area is available for crew and production vehicles.
Some of the productions that have utilized DuBois Park
include the feature film Turkles, the Celine Dion music
video A New Day Has Come and a photo shoot for
Abercrombie & Fitch. For more info call 561.233.1000.
