The word ... Anapanasati ... in Pali language means ... to keep one’s total attention and awareness

only on one’s normal breathing process.

‘ ana ’ ... means ... ‘ in-breath ’‘ apana ’ ... means ... ‘ out-breath ’‘ sati ’ ... means ... ‘ be-one-with ’

In Anapanasati, attention of the mind should

constantly be on the breath. The task on hand is

conscious observation of the breath. No mantra

is to be chanted ! No form of any diety is to be

entertained in the mind ! No pranayama practices

like kumbhaka (HOLDING THE BREATH) should be

attempted !

Any comfortable sitting posture can be taken.

The posture should be as comfortable as possible.

Hands should be clasped ... and eyes should be

closed. The crux of the matter is to resist the

routine wanderings of the mind. Thoughts should

be cut right away, as and when they keep arising.

“ When we are with the breath-energy, the mind becomes rather empty !

Then, there is a tremendous in-flow of cosmic energy into the physical body !

Gradually, the hitherto dormant third eye becomes activated ... and, by and by,

cosmic consciousness is experienced !SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 20073

Brahmarshi Patriji, founder, Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement was invited by

Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) to conduct a workshop on “ Meditation for

Holistic Living ” … “ A New Paradigm in Health : Illness to Wellness and Beyond ” on 15th

June, 2007 at Ahmedabad.

The following deliberation is incorporated from the VCD produced by A.M.A. Ahmedabad.

In the year 1979, I gotenlightenment. I became aBuddha ... like you becomea Chief Minister or a PrimeMinister by working hard ...

like you become a bigManagement Master byworking hard.

Anybody can become aBuddha !

You become a Buddhaby working hard in the fieldof meditation. When youwork hard in the field of truthyou become a Buddha. In thefield of music, when you workhard, you become a Pandit Ravishankar or aBismillah Khan. The point is that you should workhard.

I invite you also for hard work in the followingtwo fields : 1 TRUTH and 2 MEDITATION. I wantthat each one of you should become a Buddha.

Along with my studies in Basic Science ...

Agriculture Science, simultaneously I was alsolearning and practising classical carnatic music.

So, I have also become amusician before I became ameditator.

Music is a very veryhard work ! To become aZakir Hussain or HariprasadChourasia, it is tremendoushard work ! Anything brilliantand intelligent in life is hardwork ! Playing flute is reallyhard work.

Nothing can be a giftfrom the heavens ! If you begof the heaven, nothing is

going to come ! It needs hard work ... on the earth... to become a musician, or a football player or acricketer or a scientist or a management masteror a Buddha.

I am going to give you, today, a number ofpoints on HOLISTIC HEALTH ... not one or two butthe whole gamut.

I am a scientist by background. I am also amarketing man by profession. Then, again, I am

Brahmarshi Patriji

SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 20075

a musician. And, finally, I have practicedmeditation also.

In the year 1976, I have started practicingmeditation. I became Master of Meditation bythe year 1979. In three years time I mastered it.Since then, I have been teaching meditation, toall people ... family members, friends, relatives, strangers, professional colleagues. And, after theyear 1992, after resignation from the job, Icontinued teaching meditation to all the humanity,to one and all.

I would like to present the topic in threephases : 1 Pyramids 2 Meditation 3 HolisticHealth

“ PYRAMIDS ”

In the year 1982, I read a book by name “TheSecret Power of Pyramids” by Bill Shull & EdPettit. I have been a voracious reader right frommy child-hood. I must have read 50,000 bookson fiction and 50,000 books on non-fiction in mycurrent life-time. I happened to read that particularbook in the year 1982. Prior to that, in the year1979 itself, I became enlightened. So, after aboutthree years of my enlightenment I hadencountered the pyramid energy.

As soon as I read the contents of the book, Iasked my carpenter to carve for me a pyramidwith some cardboard material. He prepared andgave me two small pyramids. I did someexperiments with them. I put one tomato insideone pyramid and one outside the pyramid. Theoutside tomato got putrefied within two days, whilethe inside tomato remained fresh for one month !

In another experiment, I put a brinjal inside apyramid and another brinjal outside. The outsidebrinjal got putrefied in two or three days. And theinside brinjal stayed fresh for one month.

In those days, I used to have regular shave.I used to keep the razor blades inside the pyramid. The razor blades used to remain sharp and

thereby I used to get thirty to forty shaves.Otherwise, within two or three shaves I had to gofor a new razor blade.

After making such experiments to mysatisfaction ... then I kept cool. Again, in the year1990 one of the industrialists in Kurnool wantedto give me a meditation room. He said: “you aredoing so much service ... I will also contribute ...

let me construct a meditation room for you”. I said,“ Kindly give me a meditation room ... in a pyramidshape. ”

Within a very short period of four months abig pyramid (30’x30’ size) was constructed inKurnool ... where about two hundred people cansit inside comfortably and meditate together ! Wehave named it as “ Buddha Pyramid MeditationCentre. ”

SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 20076

That is the first pyramid meditation centre inthe whole world. Nowhere in the world, meditationhas been done inside a pyramid until that time. Ittook another six years for the pyramid masters tobuild a second pyramid. That was in a villagecalled Uravakonda in Anantapur Dist. And a thirdpyramid was constructed in Anantapur town.

Since then, many many pyramids have comeup in several towns and villages of AndhraPradesh. Presently, near Bangalore, a MEGA

PYRAMID ... called as the Maitreya BuddhaPyramid has been built wherein, about 5,000people can sit comfortably and do meditation ! Iinvite all of you to Bangalore to come and see thegreat pyramid. It has massive energy in it !

Suppose, there is a cut in your hand, if youput the injured hand under the pyramid it will healthe wound very fast. That is because of themiraculous properties of the pyramid energy.

Again if it takes thirty minutes to make yourunruly mind becomecalm outside apyramid ... within thepyramid it will takeonly ten minutes. Thus, pyramid actslike a catalyst in areaction. Using apyramid for ameditation is veryvery useful for thebeginners. However, for senior mastersthis is not essentiallyrequired. But forbeginners, Ir e c o m m e n dabsolutely that theymake use of thepyramids.

“ MEDITATION ”

My dear friends, what is fasting? What ismouna? What is meditation ?

Fasting means ... not eating anything.Gandhiji was fasting one day in every week.Fasting is very important. Not putting anything intothe mouth is fasting.

Mouna means ... not speaking anything. Notgetting anything out of the mouth is Mouna. Forone full year I stayed in Mouna.

Meditation means ... not thinking anything... not getting anything out of the brain or not gettinganything into the mind is meditation.

Meditation means making the mind empty... “ Yogaha Chitta Vritti Nirodhaha ”. Thisbecomes possible only when you are with thebreath. This has been the discovery of GautamaBuddha !

“ Yoga ” ... has nothing to do with body !Yoga begins with the mind and ends with the mind.

“ Yoga ” beginswith the effort toempty the mind ...

culminating in thepossession of a trulyempty mind ... whichat once gives us awonderful thingcalled as the “ ThirdEye ”.

When weremove the obstaclecalled as the mind, what we get is thebeautiful jewel ofThird Eye ! Whenwe possess theThird Eye we are aBuddha. The Third

SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 20077

Eye is lying dormant in all the people. It is as if itwere sleeping. We have to activate it. We haveto awaken it !

So my dear friends, not letting any thing intothe mind or not letting out anything from the mindis ... the effort of meditation.

Newton discovered laws of gravitation.Buddha discovered the laws of meditation. Forfive and half years, Buddha tried several methodsand finally arrived at the only one essential thingthat is, “ being with the breath ”. That is why ; Icalled our first meditation centre as “BuddhaPyramid Meditation Centre”.

Buddha discovered three great laws which Ihave rediscovered. These three laws are :

1. When we are with the normal and naturalbreath, the mind becomes rather empty.

2. When the mind becomes rather empty, hugeamount of cosmic energy floods into thephysical body.

This “ river of cosmic energy ”, in Hindumythology, is called as “ aakash ganga ”. We

have to take bath in this “ river of cosmicenergy ” that is in “ aakash ganga ”.

3. When the body is saturated with the cosmicenergy, the Soul Potential becomes kinetic... the God Potential becomes kinetic ... theThird Eye Potential becomes kinetic. Thatis the third law.

By birth, we are endowed with greatpotentials. For example, a seed has its potentialof a tree within it. But, it is up to us to actualisethat potential. By birth, everybody is God like ... a“ Seed Buddha ”. However, we are required tocultivate ourselves ... to become a “ Tree Buddha ”through intense meditation ... through readingbooks ... through meeting masters and throughvarious other means like ... vegetarianism, musicand so many things for self cultivation.

“ When we are with the normal and naturalbreath, the mind becomes rather empty ”

The breath is not to be tampered ... noKumbhaka ... no Hathayoga ... or no Pranayam. That is ... “ being normal with the breath ”.However, even with the help of the breath, it takesa great amount of time for the mind to becomerather empty.

In a glass of muddy water, for example, itwill take certain amount of time for the mud tosettle. If we keep on shaking the glass or the waterthe mud can never settle !

A similar thing happens during meditationalso. All the thoughts ... the muddy thoughts ...

have to settle !

The physical body has to be kept still andwe have to make efforts to make the mind alsostill. THE PHYSICAL BODY is like the container - glassand the content - water inside it is THE MIND. If wekeep on stirring the water, the mud will not settleor even if we keep on moving the glass, the mudwill not settle. Therefore, two things are required:

SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 20078

The glass has to be STILL

The water has to be STILL

Then over a period of time, the mud will settle. This is science. So, the time for stilling the minddepends upon one’s age.

Supposing you are ten years old boy or girl itwill take ten minutes to still the body and the mind. Then the mud of thoughts gets settled. If your ageis thirty years ... it takes thirty minutes time. If,your age is sixty then it takes sixty minutes forthe mind to settle.

So, the critical minimum amount of timedepends upon your physical age. Therefore, catch people young. You can teach children easily. That is why I go to schools and teach children.

“ When we are with the normal and naturalbreath the mind becomes rather empty ... andthen huge amount of cosmic energy flows in tothe body.”

The incoming cosmic energy will cleaninternally ... the subtle bodies. Actually, we areseven bodied structure :

1 Physical Body 2 Etheric Body3 Astral Body 4 Causal Body5 Spiritual Body 6 Cosmic Body

7 Nirvanic Body.

I know all these seven bodies by experience.I speak from my experience. I am a scientist. These same things have been corroborated byseveral people throughout the history, who havedone similar experiments.

A+B under the same atmospherictemperature and pressure will give C+D foranybody. That is science, replicability. Sameprinciples hold good for the science of meditationtoo !

When the body is saturated with cosmicenergy the soul potential becomes kinetic.

“ HOLISTIC HEALTH ”

“ Holistic Health ” ... means “ The WholeHealth ”... “ The Complete Health ”.

For holistic health, we should have five things:1. physical health 2. mental health 3. intellectualhealth 4. spiritual health 5. social health

1. Physical Health : There should be noillness and there should be no disease. That isphysical health.

2. Mental Health: There should be nomental depression at any time. Even if we areinsulted, we should never lose our energy. Thatis mental health.

3. Intellectual Health : It means, if we readBhagavad Gita, we should be able to understandthe inner most meaning of it immediately.

If we do not understand, there is somethingwrong with our intellectual health. It is not ashealthy as it should be. If we read Vedas, weshould be able to understand. If one person sayssomething ... and if we are not able to understand, something is wrong with your intellect ... thatmeans, the intellectual health is not up to the mark.

4. Spiritual Health : Spiritual health means,we must know what we are basically. We should

SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 20079

understand that we are basically an eternity offundamental consciousness. We are anATMA.That is called spiritual health.

5. Social Health : We are responsible forall our fellow beings in the society. If we do notwork for the betterment of the society, we do nothave social health. If I don’t teach meditation toyou, it means I don’t have social health ! I am notdoing my social dharma ! If we don’t do socialdharma we lack social health !

This is called Holistic Health.

When someone becomes a social workerlike Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Buddha ...

we can call ourselves holistically healthy. We haveto live for the whole being-kind ! When webecome holistically healthy, then we have wonthe ultimate victory !

ATMA is fundamental. Everything flows fromATMA. We must realize ATMA through meditation. When the mind becomes empty, we realize theATMA. To make mind empty, our breath is therefor us. So, to realize ATMA we need not go to anyGuru, to catch hold of his feet, we don’t have togo to Himalayas! We need not leave our family ...

samsara. What we have to ensure is that wecomeout of all our stupidities ... unwarrantedthinking and unwarranted speech. If we do this,

material excerpted from the VCD on “ Meditation for Holistic Living ” ...Produced by AMA Ahmedabad ... grateful acknowledgements ... edit-team

so much of energy and so much of time isavailable with us to become a Buddha, withineven a very short period of forty days !

Of course, it goes without saying, that wecan’t be a non-vegetarian ! By eating meat asfood we can never become a Buddha ... prima-facie it is not possible !

Your job is to be with your breath, which isreadily available with you. You have to be with thebreath. Breath has been there with you, since yourbirth. But you have never chosen to live with thebreath. This is called Anapanasati Meditation, discovered by Buddha, and then re-discoveredby plenty of others, including me.

So, my dear friends, become one withbreath. And become a vegetarian. That is thebottom line, that is a middle line and that is thetop line, in the Science of Holistic Living. It isas simple as that !

Zero money is required for health ! Time andbreath have to be combined, which will give ushealth ... holistic health ... i.e., physical health ...

mental health ... intellectual health ... spiritualhealth ... social health. And then, the whole worldis happy, abundant, healthy, and vigorous.

What a great thing Holistic Living is !

Man has lost his contact with NATURE’s hiddenlife. To regain it, all that dulls the senses, everythinggross, everything impure and all indulgence mustbe left behind.

The divine HEART OF LIFE must be approachedin silent contemplation and single-mindedness ;thus only may that heart be found.

The approach to Nature by modern man isalmost exclusively through action and his outersenses.

Too few among her human devoteesapproach her in stillness, with outer sensesquieted and inner sense aroused. Few, therefore, discover the GODDESS herself behind her earthlyveil.

“ silent contemplation ”

There is a value in the active life, a powerand a beauty in NATURE’s outer garb.

Power far greater, and beauty far deeper, liebeneath her veil, only to be drawn aside by silentcontemplation of her HIDDEN LIFE.

“ quiet mind ”

The heart of NATURE, save for its rhythmicpulse, abides in silence.

The devotee at NATURE’s shrine mustapproach her altar reverently and with quiet mindif he would find her beating heart and know thepower within the form.

The doorway of her temple exists and is tobe found in every natural form.

Contemplation of a single flower may leadthe seeker through.

James Van Praagh ... has touched the lives of millions through hisextraordinary ability to communicate with the world beyond.

In “ Talking to Heaven ”, he conveyed the message that death is notthe end, that our departed loved ones are a part of our daily lives, and thatone day we will reconnect with them in our heavenly homes. “ Reaching toHeaven ” is an inspiring and empowering guide to assist us in becoming‘ spiritual beings ’, by turning inward to discover our own voice of God. A fewexcerpts from his book “ Reaching to Heaven ”.

James Van Praagh

As Wordsworth so beautifully expresses,

“ We are on an endless journey between here

and heaven ”.

As with any journey on which we embark,

there is always the anticipation of having an

exciting adventure. Wouldn’t it be nice to look upon

our life’s last journey as nothing short of the same ?

The truth is that we have taken the journeymany times before and will take it many timesagain.

“ nothing is lost except the physical body ”

When an individual leaves the physical world,he leaves behind heavy, dense body that hasinhabited an equally dense, heavy world.

Such a transition can be compared toremoving a winter over-coat, or a snake sloughingoff its other skin. In essence, we do the same.

When we die, we are finished using ourhuman form, and so we let it go.

Nothing is lost except the physical body. Thecomplete soul ... self remains intact ; the astral, mental, and spiritual bodies are still alive and well.

“ new existence in the astral world ”

No matter how spiritually evolved a personhas become, he begins a new existence in whatis known as the astral world.

In many ways, the astral world is as solidand as real as the physical earth ... a kind ofetheric counterpart to the earth.

This invisible (to our physical eyes) worldinterpenetrates and extends around the earth andis made of etheric enegry that vibrates atfrequencies beyond the physical spectrum.

“ a number of levels ”

The astral world iscomposed of a numberof levels, and each levelcorresponds to aparticular ethericfrequency.

The level of theastral world that isclosest to the physicalearth can be describedas a type of‘ reception area ’. Thisregion is significant tonewly arriving souls fortwo very importantreasons :

1 It provides anenvironment thatduplicates the earth in

every way possible. As a multi-dimensionalexistence, it possesses houses, buildings, universities, concert halls, gardens, lakes, andeverything that is recognizable to our materialminds. This eases the shock of passing out ofthe solid, physical world.

2 It is a place that allows a spirit to becomeaccustomed to the afterlife slowly. In the astralworld, a spirit begins to live a more rarefiedspiritual existence and must eventually cast offits past earthly memory patterns, behaviors, anddesires.

A newly arriving spirit will gravitate to theparticular level of the astral world that correspondsto the frequency of its astral body’s vibration. Itwill enter encased in a very real and tangible astralbody, and will be as real there as it was here.

“ astral body is an exact copy ”

When an individual soul makes the transitionto the astral level of existence, it enters with itsastral body.

Like the ethericbody that is shed at thetime of death, the astralbody is an exact copy ofthe physical body, complete with arms, legs, fingers, toes, etc. However, it does notcontain any ‘ illness ’ or‘ infirmity ’ !

For instance, anyone who is blind ordeaf, or in a wheel-chair,or has terrible diseasethat leaves the body in adeteriorated condition, will not bring thesedisabilities into thespiritual realms.

No matter if an arm or leg is lost in anexplosion, or a body is totally annihilated bydisaster or war, a spirit arrives in perfect form.

These afflictions are purely the effects of aphysical body in physical world. They are not theconditions of the spirit world, or the spirit body.

“ soul gravitates to its interests ”

A newly arrived soul finds itself on a spirituallevel that is made up of the accumulation ofcharacter traits and various earthly experiencesthat it had created before death.

In other words, a soul gravitates to a state ofexistence that contains its interests.

Souls with matching interests join togetheron a similar spiritual level.

“ there is no time in the spirit world ”

One of the first illuminations that touchesspirits upon entering the astral world is anabsence of time !

However, since a spirit has so recentlypassed from a world of clocks and calendars, thememory of ‘ time ’ has a strong hold in its thoughtprocesses, and its natural inclination is the wonderwhat ‘ day ’ it is.

A spirit might think it has been out of thephysical body for just a few moments when inactual earth time it has been gone for three days.

Realizing this discrepancy confirms to a spiritthat it is no longer bound by the limitations of thephysical world.

“ not limited by a fixed world ”

In the astral world, physical laws andboundaries, such as gravity, sound and speed,no longer apply.

Spirits find out very quickly that they are notlimited by a fixed world. In the fourth dimensionand beyond, spirits are able to be in several placesat the same time, and the mode of transportationis thought.

Spirits have no need to speak because theycan read each other’s thoughts.

“ spirit will begin to judge and examine ”

There is a point when a spirit will begin tojudge and examine every experience, moment, and instance of its recently departed life.

It probes every thought, feeling, and actiontaken, and views what has been a contribution toits soul’s growth and what has been impairment.

In other words, it does a comparison report. It measures how well it has fulfilled the originalsoul plan.

“ re-evaluation process ”

In this re-evaluation process a soul, mightrealize that in order to gain the most wisdom froma certain experience, it might need to repeat asimilar situation in a future existence on earth.

This initiates what is referred to as thekarmic process, i.e., a carryover to gain spiritualawareness.

This process is not meant as punishmentfor doing something ‘ wrong ’. It is merely a spiritualevaluation of the experience.

If a soul believes it can re-do the experiencein a better way, it will return to do it over.

A spiritual being recognizes its immortality... it knows that it is responsible for all conditionsit has caused in the past and all those it will createin the future.

Thisbreath energy is more essential for the humans. But how to know it ? How to feel its greatness ?The way is to “ be with the energy essence ofthe breath ”.

Natural Breath…

To know about breath energy, we haveto be with the breath. But how? Here is themethodology : Don’t take ‘long’ or ‘short’ breath.Keep only to natural, normal, soft and easybreath ! Only then we can understand. Whenwe become one with this natural and easybreath, automatically our mind becomesrather empty ! When the mind becomes rather

empty, we get abundant cosmic energy ! Soon, something called as the ‘third-eye’ getsactivated, activating our SOUL - SEEINGpotential !

Science of Meditation …

Similar to our two physical eyes, we alsohave a ‘third-eye’ and like our physical body, wealso have an ‘astral body’. All this is understoodonly through breath. When we regularly place ourattention on breath, it is called ‘meditation’. Andwith more and more practice of meditation, weunderstand the total scope of the Science ofMeditation.

Science of Soul …

Through meditation we can see our past andfuture. Knowing our past … we come tounderstand that … “ we have changed manybodies and passed through many variedexperiences ”. Finally, we realize that “ we arenot body … we are soul ”. The basic truths are‘Ayamatma Brahma’ … ‘Aham Brahmasmi’ …

‘Tatwamasi’ ! That means, we understand that“ we are everything ” … “ we are eternal ”, Thiswhole subject is called as Science of Soul !

Spirituality …

Through breath we understand ‘dhyanashastra’ and through ‘dhyana shastra’ alone weunderstand ‘ atma shastra ’ ! Only after having afirm grasp of soul science can we begin tounderstand how to speak, how to eat, how to feel, how to touch, how to walk … in fact each andevery point of our life, one by one! This is nothingbut “ Enlightenment ” ! ... also called“ Spirituality ”.

Religion …

“ Religion ” means ‘ re-ligate ’ ... that is to‘ re-unite ’ ! Now, we understand the magnificenceof all religions ! Now, we become one with all theworld’s religions ! Every religion is based uponthe same truth of soul science.

With soul experience, we understand that wedon’t have any limitations or any type ofboundaries!

To experience our SOUL-HOOD, we haveto become one with our BREATH-HOOD !That’s the absolute central point !

SPIRITUAL INDIA September - October 200725

“ We rise through thestrength and singularity ofour intents. Or, we fallthrough the weakness orvagueness of our intents. Wemove ahead through ourdecisions, or we lag behindthrough our wavering mind. ”

“ Meditation is the greatest

so much to ourselves ! We

hours. We are deep into

meditation … into a thought-

meditation is ! It has to be experienced ! It has to be

“ We are all born with apurpose, with a mission, witha design, with a plan. Onlythe spiritually wise canunderstand and be aware oftheir particular purpose, mission, design and plan intheir lives. ”

“ Thoughts need power toreach their targets. In arestless state of mind, thoughts are produced withleast power. Therefore, theydon’t reach their particulartargets. However, as a resultof a restful and tranquil stateof mind, thoughts acquire great power and allintents get dramatically actualized. ”

example for others. On the successfulcompletion of our human experience, we getpromoted to higher worlds. ”

“ Consciousness ... is thefundamental verity !Thought ... is a function ofconsciousness ! Energy ...

is the product of thought !And, finally, Matter ... is thecrystallization of energy ! ”

“ Meditational Energy should be the main sourceof vitality for the physicalbody … not food ! Meditationis the process of silencingthe mind. If a given mind isincessantly wasting itsenergy, the physical body isdepleted of energy andbecomes susceptible toattacks…by various bacteriaand viruses. The result is a diseased body. ”

“ Only through meditation, only through enlightenment, only through hearing others’life experiences, do we cometo know of our own grandself, our own universal self, our own cosmic self. That isbecoming a Master ! ”

My name is Lakshmi NagaSethu.

I have been practicingAnapanasati meditation for thepast nine years ! I am the eldestdaughter of Mrs. G.NagaPrasanna and Late Shri G.Raghavendra Rao.

As I look back into my life sofar, I feel so much transformedafter I have entered intomeditation !

When I was of the age of twoyears, strangely, I used to feel asif I were from a different worldaltogether and have come to visit this earth as aguest for a purpose unknown ! I used to watchmyself as a spectator ... and used to feel that Iwere only a small portion of me ... leading lifehere as Naga Sethu and that I am not a part ofthe family.

relationships are shallow

Often, I used to wonder why people can’t loveeach other unconditionally. This has been myobservation in various relationships like parent-child, friendships etc. I used to feel that allrelationships are shallow ! I was depressed withthat thought and it was then that I started the quest... where would I find a source of unconditionallove ... if such a thing ever exists.

My parents are gifted singers and thus theyhave been very keen in getting me trained inmusic. Music was the only means to soothe myaching soul.

I happened to know fromsome elderly people that it isGod alone who loves everyparticle of the universe in thesame manner and that he isthe creator of all that exists. Also, I came to know that itwas through Tapas(contemplation) that onereaches God. However, atthat age I could not find out away of doing tapas. Myparents are devoted to ShriRaghavendra Swami ofMantralayam and are activeparticipants in many spiritual

and devotional programmes.

Master C.V.V.

My father has soon become a member ofan organization called “The World TeacherTrust”, established by an enlightened guru,“ Master E.K. ”. Members of that organizationfollow the meditation technique called the“Bhriktha Rahitha Taraka Raja Yoga” given tothem by his enlightened guru, “ Master C.V.V. ”.

My father made meditation a daily practicein the house. He used to get up early in themorning and sit in meditation at exactly 6 o’ clockin the morning and in the evening. Thus, I havetaken my first steps into meditation. The prayerwould last for about half an hour. We would sit inmeditation and after uttering “ Master C.V.V.Namaskarams ” thrice ... we would silentlyobserve the changes happening inside the bodyand mind.

At that time, I was only successful in sittingquietly and closing my eyes and nothing morethan that.

One day, it so happened that my mother‘sbody was swinging to and fro while she was inmeditation and I happened to open my eyes andwatch that happen. I could not make out why mymother’s body was shaking thus. Later, when Iasked my father about it, he said that MasterC.V.V’s vibration is working upon her body andthat the disorders in her “pranic energy” are beingcorrected by the Master. Thus, I happened toknow the word “vibration” for the first time.

strange feelings of deep pain

I still vividly remember those days when myfather used to wake us children at 5 o’ clock inthe morning for getting ready for the prayer. Thus,I became habituated to enjoy the beauty of thenature early in the morning and I used to feel soone with it ! I later realized that it is the sameexperience that one can feel in deep meditation. Ilove nature so much and whenever I spend mytime with the green trees and small plants Ibecome so happy and would feel the innersilence ! A strange feeling of deep pain wouldalways arise when I see the black water-ladenclouds as if it reminds me of some distantmemory echoing within me and I become deeplyinvolved in that feeling and again I would feel theinner silence.

I used to spend days together in this kind ofstate ! Now, after becoming a meditator, I havethe same kinds of experiences, when I aminvolved in deep meditation.

Though I have been a very good singer, I havefelt the real essence of music only after becominga meditator and many a times I would immerseinto meditation while reciting many krithis andkirtans. I used to feel that there is no necessity ofseeking others’ company and was very happywith my own.

A silence would always be there whenever Ilooked into myself and even while doing any otherwork also. This deep silence would result indisinterest in others and I used to look moody. This kind of moodiness would be very frequentsince my childhood and my family seems to haveaccustomed to this kind of behavior. I would thankthem for not disturbing me in those times, whichhelped me have a deep insight into myself.Whenever that kind of mood would takeover me,I used to observe the feeling inside me ... andsometimes this mood would last for weekstogether.

However, the final outcome of such periodswas that I was always blissful. As I would watchthat mood from inside, the melancholy wouldslowly transform into happiness and relaxation. After such an effect, that kind of moodiness woulddisappear. Even now, I experience such a kindof moodiness.

meditation became hindered

From my child-hood, my parents were fondof seeing me as a “ doctor ” ... and have inducedthe idea in me by repeatedly conveying me theirwish. I too wanted to make their wish come true. Thus, my spiritual quest became somewhat‘latent’ as I was busy with my academiceducation. Thus, our daily practice of “ MasterC.V.V. meditation ” ended. Meditation becamehindered as we children could not gather togetherat 6 o’ clock in the morning and evenings due toour challenges in education.

I studied hard day and night for the medicalentrance. However, I wasn’t successful in the firstattempt. This failure made me very muchdepressed and I felt that my whole life itself is afailure. I couldn’t understand why I have notsucceeded inspite of my hard work. Then, mymother said ... “ It is because of God’s will thatyou haven’t succeeded ; HE is the one whodecides what each being is worthy of ”. This mademe very angry and I wanted to find a way to

contact the so-called ‘ God ’, fight with him andtell him that it is none of his business to interferein my life.

Thus, once again I wanted to seek God, thistime with a different intention. Today, I laugh atmyself for all this and would really want to thank“ God Within Me ” for not letting me to become a‘ doctor ’ ! Else, I would have wasted a lot of time.I had to join B.Sc. reluctantly, after I failed for asecond time in the medical entrance.

Twin Heart Meditation Technique

During those days, Ihappened to meet“ Anjani ”, who was not only myassociate in music but also atcollege. We soon becameclose and used to spend muchtime chatting with each other. In one such conversations, shehappened to tell me about ameditation technique called ...“The Twin Heart MeditationTechnique ” ... and suggestedme to practice it. For about afortnight, we practiced thattechnique together. I saw manycolors in meditation andnothing more. I was notcompletely satisfied with thattechnique.

Anapanasati

One day, as we were coming home from

college, we happened to see a pamphlet on our

way. I picked it up and found that it is about

“ Anapanasati Meditation Technique ” printed

by “ The Guntur Pyramid Spiritual Society ”.

After going through the pamphlet, I felt that

the technique is easy and yet is very promising.

Hence, I decided to put it for a test for sometime

and basing on the results, we would think aboutcontinuing this technique further.

my third eye visions

On the first day itself, I sat for about an hourin meditation ! At first, I struggled hard to observemy breath, as it is the first time that I am taking aplunge into the subtle realm of my breath thatremained unnoticed so far. Soon, I succeeded ingetting hold of my inhalation and exhalation andthe results were startling ! I saw Tyagaraja Swami,Lord Anjaneya, Lord Venkateswara and ananonymous golden hand blessing me !

Words fail me to pen myfeeling then. In the secondsitting, I could see the “ KrishnaRasaleela ”, though it was notso vivid. Apart from colors, Icould see many unknownfaces and many places that Ihad never seen in this life-time.For fifteen days I did intensemeditation and I carefullydocumented all myexperiences in meditation in adiary ... and was wonderingwhat to do next.

Again we sought the help

of the pamphlet and have found

the address of a senior master,

Mrs. Vijaya Lakshmi. We decided to show her

our experiences and wanted to make sure if we

were on the right track. Upon hearing our

experiences, she felt very happy and

congratulated us for getting such “ third eye ”visions so early ! That was the first time when I

came to know that not only Lord Shiva, but also

every human being has a “ third eye ” !

spiritual science

She also told that one can achieve greatperfection in third eye by regular practice of
