The Book of Reports is an annual report created for lay and clergy members of our annual conference to in-form them of recommendations and other vital information in
advance of the June session at Lakeside Chautauqua. Along with your upcoming district briefing, this report will help prepare you for your responsibilities as a member of the annual conference by providing you the opportunity to review in advance the proposed daily agenda, the recommendations you will be voting on and other key information. Because of the importance of this information and your role as a voting member of the annual conference, we are providing this year's Book of Reports both electronically and by mail over the next week to each member. Please take the time to review the report prior your arrival at Lakeside and bring it with you for reference.

Gracious God,
You created us in your image, as your beloved children, with unique personalities and passions. We are part of your glorious and varied creation. Forgive us, we pray, when we allow our differ-ences to divide us rather than to display the fullness of your glory. We label one another without getting to know one another’s passions and struggles. We condemn one another without confess-ing our own sins and shortcomings. We use the terms “they” and “us” in derogatory ways. We confess these divisions occur no matter where we find ourselves on the theological spectrum.
Revive us, O God, with a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to be your people in this world. May we be passionate about Your Word. May we be intentional in our spiritual disciplines that grow us into deeper disciples of your Son Jesus. May be we sacrificial in our service within our local communi-
ties. May we be loving in our interactions with all of your beloved children. May our witness reflect Your ways. May we remember that we are all your beloved children.
Guide the ministry of our local congregations, guide the ministry we do ecumenically with other Christians in our local communities, and guide the ministry of the United Methodist Church. We continue to keep all in prayer at General Conference in their work and witness.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Clergy-related petitions pass GC2016
A few petitions affecting United Methodist clergy either were approved by General Conference 2016 or are
highly likely to be, having made it onto the consent calendar.
But a renewed effort that would have begun the process to remove the constitutional bar to end guaran-
teed appointment for ordained elders failed in committee, as did an “early ordination” petition.
Many petitions dealing with clergy came from the Ministry Study Commission, led by Greater Northwest
Area Bishop Grant Hagiya.
