Introduction
Welcome to Year One’s chocolate non-fiction
book.In this book you will
find out all about chocolate.
Where does cocoa come from?
Luci, Natasha & Michael
Cocoa comes from the rainforest. The cocoa grows on a cocoa tree, in pods
called cocoa pods. They are ready when they turn yellow.
Most of our cocoa comes from ghana and brazil.
What does a cocoa bean look like?
Katie, Zain & LewisA cocoa bean looks like a chocolate
bean. It looks like an oval.They are small and grow bigger in the
rainforest.Inside are lots of cocoa beans.
A cocoa tree has cocoa pods on it.
The cocoa tree is special because it
grows in the rainforest where it rains a lot, which
helps the cocoa pods to grow.
What does a cocoa tree look like?

In the rainforest it is very hot and rainy.
There are rainforests in Ghana and Brazil.

Fairtrade is where farmers and growers have enough money from big
companies. You might see Fairtrade stickers on different things like
bananas and chocolate.You will see a sign with
green, blue and black on the Fairtrade sign.

Chocolate comes from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. The chocolate is made by the Oompa
Loompas.Chocolate comes from the cocoa pod and inside a
pod are up to 40 cocoa beans.
The cocoa pods is ready to pick when the pod
turns yellow.
Where does chocolate come from?

Chocolate will melt if it gets hot or warm. A chocolate bar in the sun will melt and be sticky and
squishy and gooey. When it cools, it goes hard again.
How does chocolate melt?

Willy Wonka has a black top hat.
He makes delicious chocolate.

found!You need to look out for the

Who are the Oompa Loompas?
Oompa Loompas are Willy Wonka’s workers and stand
no taller than your knee.Without them delicious chocolate wouldn’t be
made.They have their own song.
Our chocolate shop.
Welcome to our chocolate shop.
We designed our shop. We made Willy Wonka top hats, designed a
name for our shop, as well as making
chocolate packets. We also made open and
closed signs and a price list for our sweets.
It costs £40 for a piece of fudge from our shop!
Our visit to the chocolate factoryOn Wednesday 6th March Years 1 & 2
went on a trip to Cadbury’s World.
All chocolated out!
We saw a gorilla
playing the drums!
2 ladies were
sticking together a giant Easter
egg! We all
wanted to eat it. It
smelt delicious
and chocolate
