HISTORY OF INATEX
Industrial Arts and Technology Exhibition (INATEX) is an R&D exhibition & competition that showcases UTM latest inventions and innovations.
INATEX was first introduced in 1998 and this year
exhibition will be the 18th edition. INATEX winners will have the opportunity to represent
the University in various R&D exhibitions and competitions at National and International levels.

1 To promote the latest innovative inventions, products and technologies in R&D developed by
UTM researchers to the public and industry.
2 As a platform for internal assessment of R&D products for competitions at National or
International level.

To provide exposure for UTM researchers on the importance of producing quality research
with high standard in order to be accepted by consumers and that can be commercialized to
generate income to the University.

1. Exhibitors or their representatives are requested to be present at their booth at all time during the exhibition. RMC shall not be liable for any damages whatever due to the negligence of the participants.
2. Exhibition materials and posters must be exhibited starting from 4-6 OCT 2016. Dismantling of materials is only allowed after 4.00pm on 6 OCT 2016.
3. All exhibitors are requested to attend the Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation (6 OCTOBER 2016,2.15pm) at Dewan Sultan Iskandar.
4. Exhibition result will be announced during award ceremony.

REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS
1. All admittance must go through a registration process that will be held as following:
Date: 3 October 2016 (Monday) Time: 2:00 - 5.00 pm Place: Foyer, Dewan Sultan Iskandar, UTM
2. Exhibitors or their representatives are allowed to conduct their booth
preparation (setting up of poster, product arrangements/exhibition material and decorations) at their respective kiosk UNTIL 7.00PM on 3 Oct 2016.
3. The failure to register within the time frame provided by the exhibitor or their representatives will result in the revocation of participation. Registration after the time provided will not be entertained.
4. When registering, exhibitors will be given a booth no., exhibitor’s tag, judging form, hall layout and Product Features . The functions of each items are as followed:
1: Booth No. To know the exact location of your booth
2: Exhibitor’s Tag To enable exhibitors to enter the exhibition hall
3: Judging Slip To ensure that the product have been judged (please paste it on the poster panel so that the judge can sign it)
4: Hall Layout As a reference to participant’s booth location

1. Researchers must produce their own poster according to the poster template. 2. The theme of the poster must follow UTM’s branding guideline including logo
and tagline. 3. Poster size is A0 size (1189mm x 841mm). 4. Poster orientation must be in Portrait (Width: 841mm & Height: 1189mm). 5. Contents must follow the prescribed format 6. The main content of the poster must include:
• Product photo • Product features • Novelty • Applications • Environmental friendliness • Potential market
7. Poster should be printed in English. 8. Relevant images must be included. 9. Researcher’s photos and details are located at the bottom of each poster.
POSTER GUIDELINE
• Use small font size and shadow effect.
• Use the same background colour as the title and its content.
• Use blurry image of products or researchers.
• Put in descriptions that are too long.

1. Researchers must prepare a minimum 30 pieces of flyers for every invention. 2. The theme of the flyer must follow UTM’s branding guideline including logo
and tagline. 3. Flyer size is A4 size (210mm x 297mm). 4. Flyer orientation must be in Portrait (Width: 210mm & Height: 297mm). 5. Contents must follow the prescribed format. The main content of the poster

Researchers are encouraged to prepare an appropriate PROTOTYPE to avoiding the problem of space.

JUDGING INFORMATION
1. Judging session will be held on 4 OCTOBER 2016 starting from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
2. One invention will be judged by 3 judges (Industry, Funded and Academic). 3. Researchers (Participants) must be at their respective booth at all times during
the judging period from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Presentation to the judge must be made by the PROJECT LEADER.
4. Presentation must be between 15 minutes with 1 minute introduction, 6 minutes invention explanation (focus to business planning), 2 minutes for conclusion and 6 minutes question and answering session.
5. Researchers (Participants) are encouraged to prepare a simple slide for presentation purposes.
6. For inventions that require a demonstration, please make sure the invention can function properly during the judging session.
7. For large-scale invention, researchers are encouraged to show a video demonstration to show clear functions of invention.
8. The presentation must be guided by the judging criteria. Please refer to the judging criteria guideline for further information.
9. Presentation must be in English or Malay.
JUDGING INFORMATION
10. All supporting evidence must be shown during the judging session: • Business plan or business proposal • IP document • Proofs of publication • Collaboration letters from industry • Status or commercialization plans • Report analysis market study • Other documents that available to support presentation
11. Feedback from the participants after the judging session are welcome but will not have any effect on the results. All results are final. Appeals or correspondences will not be entertained.

products in the market? (Evidence MUST be made available to the panel jury)
Strategy for Commercialization
Has level of market strategies or new trend being identified?

Is it the publication for conference or journal, index or Non Indexed and how much impact
factor? . Has any publication being published as a result of the invention? Is it a journal
(with index, non-index or impact factor) or a conference proceeding publication? (Evidence MUST be made available to the panel jury)
Understanding and Demonstration
Very catchy and very informative – title, objective, application, novelty, advantages,
contact personnel, pamphlet available;
Able to explain at length about the product including the process involve and the scientific
and engineering concept supporting it; Able to discuss with some understanding; Can
explain but lack of scientific and engineering terms
Presentation of the Invention
Is the product well presented? Is there any working models or prototype on display?
Sufficient information about the product; Poster easy to understand

PRIZE AND AWARD
1. Inventions will be awarded points for each of the five (5) criteria mention in the evaluation criteria . The maximum score is 100%. Medals will be awarded base on the percentage score.
• Gold - 85% and above • Silver -70% – 84% • Bronze - 60% – 69%
2. Each participants will be given only one(1) certificate and Medal.
Each additional certificate and medal will be charged as follows: • Medal- RM60.00 • Certificate- RM10.00
3. Booking counter will be open on 10 OCTOBER 2016 (Monday) for
the collection and purchase of certificates and medals
