Vision Statement
Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,
Mother of the Lord and our Mother.
Feast of Faith Series: Our Creed: Who We
Are and What We Are About ~ We invite eve-
ryone who would like to explore our Catholic Faith more
deeply to come and reflect on the Creed throughout this
coming year. The next of the five sessions— “The First
Person of the Blessed Trinity: “I believe in one God”
takes place Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7:30PM. Save the dates
for future sessions on Jan 23, Apr 17 and May 22 - all
Tuesdays at 7:30.
Blood Drive—TODAY. Our Autumn
Blood Drive takes place today. It’s not to
late to invite those who don’t attend Incar-
nation to come and give the gift of life.
Now it’s more important than ever to come
out for our Blood Drive. If you won’t do-
nate who will. Make plans to join us for a half hour or so
today in the school. Please have breakfast and bring ID.
CHRISTMAS MARKET. Save the date and spread the
word as the Family Life Committee will be sponsoring a
Christmas Market on Sunday, December 17 from 9AM un-
til 4PM in Msgr. Griffin Hall. Look for more details and
vendor reservation at the end of the month.
BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH!
FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN 1 4
I remember when I was four, But sometimes I’d see the other fellow
And mother would bring me ‘round to the store, Standing around and I’d just go yellow,
And just outside church she’d stand, I’d pass by the door, but a Voice from within
“Come in,” she’d say, reaching down for my hand, Seemed to say real sad, “So you wouldn’t come in
“Just for a minute.” Just for a minute?” 2 5
And then when I started going to school, There are things inside me bad and good,
She’d bring me down every day as a rule, That no one knows and no one should,
But first the steps to the church we’d climb, Expecting Our Lord and I’d like Him to know,
And she’d say “We’ll go in – you’ve always got time, And He helps when in for a visit I go,
Just for a minute.” “Just for a minute.” 3 6
Then I got real big, I mean seven years old, He finds it lonesome when nobody comes
And went by myself but was always told, (There are hours upon hours when nobody comes)
“When you’re passing the church don’t forget to call And He’s pleased when anyone passing by stops in
And tell Our Lord about lessons and all, (though it’s only a little guy)
Just for a minute.” “Just for a minute.” 7
I know what happens when people die,
but I won’t be scared, and I’ll tell you why:
When Our Lord is judging my soul, I feel
He’ll remember the times I went in to kneel
“Just for a minute” before His throne.
At the Diocesan Liturgy Workshop last week ago several people were surprised that we kept the church open all
day. Besides our weekly Wednesday Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and First Friday and First Saturday
Devotions, those comments made me think of this poem above that I memorized when I was young.
Our Church is open each day until at least 5PM. So stop in “Just for a minute” and may God Bless you! JOC
Mustard Seed Ministry: At the end of the Opening Prayer
children from ages four to seven will be
invited to the lower church to hear the
reading(s) in a special way by a trained
catechist. This may include storytelling,
creating a simple craft, singing a song,
etc. At the end of the Prayer of the Faithful of the Mass the
children will return and sit back with their parents and
families. For more information see Mrs. Fouche after Mass
or call the Rel Ed Office.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY is today. Please assist the
mission Churches throughout the
world with your prayers and gener-
osity. Support infant Church Com-
munities around the world. Help
introduce others to Jesus Christ.
ALL SAINTS’ DAY. Holy Day of Obligation. Wednes-
day, Nov 1 is the Solemnity of All Saints—A Holy Day of
Obligation. The Masses here at Incarnation will be at 8:30
& 10:30AM Masses on Wednesday morning and 7:30PM
on Wednesday evening. There will be no Vigil Mass on
Tuesday evening. Please plan to attend Mass either at In-
carnation or by your work as we honor all God’s Holy
Ones.
PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD.
Over the next ten
months you will be in-
vited to pray at home
for more priests. We invite individual parishioners & fami-
lies to sign up to receive a beautiful Good Shepherd statue
into their home for one or two weeks and to pray for
priestly vocations. A prayer kit & activity sheets about
vocations will be also given to help you through your
prayer week. At the end of the week, on Saturdays, we ask
you to return the Good Shepherd Statue to the Parish Of-
fice so that it may be handed over to another parishioner
and/or family on Sunday. You may keep the activity
sheets for further prayer and reflection. Please consider
signing up for our Prayer Campaign for Priestly Vocations.
Simply fill in the form below and return it to the Parish
Office or in the collection as soon as possible. Father
Chris, Father O’Connor or a member of the Vocations
Committee, will contact you soon afterwards about all the
details. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

A campaign such as Generations of Faith does not simply
end when all the pledges are collected. Now is the time
when we start to see the wonderful effects of our effort.
Blue collection envelopes have been placed by the doors of
the church to help facilitate your pledge payments. Please
be sure to send your pledge payments in by mail or sign up
for online payments at www.cfbq.org/generations/
payments. Together we can insure the future of our parish
and the presence of the Gospel in our part of Queens for
Generations to Come!
REMEMBER: The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated
every week at Incarnation. Confessions are heard every
Saturday from 4PM-4:45PM and by calling the rectory for
an appointment. Don’t neglect God’s Gift of Reconcilia-
tion. “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His mercy
endures forever!”
NEW NATIVITY STATUES. To help celebrate our Parish
Feast, the Liturgy Committee last year decided to get addi-
tional figures for the Nativity scene to be placed in our
church each Christmas. If anyone would like to memorial-
ize any of the new Nativity statues please contact the rec-
tory. A plaque hangs each Christmas Season near the Na-
tivity with the listing of the individuals to
remember in prayer. Available for Me-
morializing: The drummer boy; shep-
herds, ox, ass and sheep. Please check
with Fr. O’Connor for more information.
“Many are called, but few are chosen.”
Consider following Christ more closely as a
priest, deacon or in consecrated life. Con-
tact the Vocation Office at (718) 827-2454
or email: [email protected].
Parish Social Justice Ministry will meet this Thursday at
7:30PM in the Rectory. Join us as we plan for Christmas
visits to our neighboring nursing homes and
more. Everyone is invited as we explore Gos-
pel Teachings and strive to put them in practice
in our community.
CHURCH ETIQUETTE. A reminder to all to turn off
cell phones before entering the
church. Also, we ask that be-
fore and after Mass we keep our
greetings to one another to a
minimum as some parishioners are still in private prayer
with the Lord present in the tabernacle.

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light
Votive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember
a Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a con-
tinual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments
and offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and
gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle
stands now hang in our church on either side of the newly
restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and
inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illu-
mination to insure your Living Light burns brightly
throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of
your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be
mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle.
Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your
Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-
tional 12 month periods. In addition to its rightful place
before your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved
One, Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included
in the Living Light Section of the Parish Website. See the
blue brochure by the church doors or contact the rectory
for more info: 718-465-8534.

The Shepherd Speaks
We are servants of the word of eternal
life, and we believe that man not only lives on
bread, but on every word that comes from the
mouth of God. (cf. Mt 4:4). Aided by the Holy
Spirit, we must nourish ourselves at the table of the word
by reading, listening, studying and bearing witness with
our lives. We devote time to those we love, and here we
are dealing with the love of God who desires to
talk to us and offer us words of life eternal.
- Address to the Committee of the
United Bible Societies

CHRISTIAN INITIATION. Do you know
a family member or friend who is interested
in becoming a Catholic? The Rite of Chris-
tian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a wonder-
ful process in our parish available to those
who feel called to the Catholic Faith. New
inquiry sessions have begun. The RCIA is
also available for those Catholics who have not yet re-
ceived First Eucharist or Confirmation. Call the Rel Ed
Office (718-465-8534) for more info.
MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY. Those who are inter-
ested in the Ministry of Hospitality to welcome visitors
and parishioners to our doors at Sunday Mass are asked to
contact Father O’Connor for more information. This min-
istry is a result of the Parish Assembly and parishioners’
desire to make Incarnation a more welcoming place.
Gracious God and Father, we enter
into your presence realizing you
know us better than we know our-
selves. You know the cares and
sufferings we carry in our hearts.
You call us to holiness and we
trust you to lead us together on our
journey to be a renewed Church, for with you all things are possible.
Create us anew in Jesus Christ your Son. Liberate us from all that
keeps us from you. Heal us from every form of sin and violence.
Transform us to live your Word more profoundly. Awaken us to the
sacred; rebuild trust among us. Enliven our parishes; reunite our fami-
lies. May your Holy Spirit empower us to live as a community of love,
freed to share in your work of recreating our world and restoring jus-
tice. We believe you are doing something new, calling us to arise to-
gether in Christ to celebrate the fullness of life. Amen.
