TRANSCRIPT

THE DEEPWATER OPERATIONS CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION has a unique position as the

only conference on the Gulf coast that focuses on addressing operational challenges for

developing deepwater resources. Deepwater production is complex and demands solutions

that are economical and long-term. The Deepwater Operations Conference and Exhibition

provides an experience for operators to share, learn and network in a forum dedicated to

provides an experience for operators to share, learn and network in a forum dedicated to

addressing these challenges.

The 2011 event was held at Moody Gardens Hotel and Convention Center on November

1 – 3, 2011 in Galveston, Texas and attracted 792 attendees and 56 exhibitors. The conference

theme was “Best Practices, Reducing Risks, Preparing For The Future.” Over two days of

sessions, speakers shared best practices, how they approach risk and how they manage new

challenges. The exhibit hall floor showcased new equipment, technology and services vital to

the deepwater operations industry.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

• 792 attendees from 11 countries; 17 cities

• Sessions 1, 2 and 5 were all delivered by operators. The session 3 panel discussion

included 5 operators and 1 supplier. Session 4 was the regulatory session. Session 6

consisted of 1 operator presentation and oil spill response committees.

• 82% of exhibitors are planning to exhibit at Deepwater Operations 2012

• 98% of those surveyed said Deepwater Operations 2011 met or exceeded

their expectations

• 87% indicated they plan to attend Deepwater Operations 2012, November 6-8, 2012

at the Moody Gardens Hotel & Convention Center in Galveston, TX

2nd ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

The second annual Deepwater Operations Golf Tournament went off without a

hitch. 76 golfers met for breakfast then played the Moody Gardens Golf Course.

Afterwards lunch was served and awards were presented.

OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION

The Opening Plenary Session was held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from

8:00 – 9:00 a.m. in the Moody Gardens Convention Center, Hall A. All registered

attendees were invited to attend.

The keynote presentation was given by Øivind Reinertsen, SVP – Development & Production

Offshore, Statoil

Mr. Reinertsen (b. 1952) is Statoil’s Senior Vice President for Development &

Production Offshore. He is one of Statoil’s most experienced leaders and has held a

variety of senior management positions in Statoil since joining the company in 1977.

Mr. Reinertsen moved to Texas in 2005 to develop Statoil’s new office in Houston. Under his

leadership, Statoil has become one of the largest deepwater leaseholders in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Houston office currently employs more than 300 people.
