Specific challenge:

• to develop new cross-sectoral industrial value chains across the EU, by fostering thecollaboration & integration of different innovation actors (large enterprises &especially SMEs), across different sectors towards the implementation of a joint vision.

• to support the development of emerging industries.

• the potential of clusters to be better exploited in this respect.

Scope:• Cross-border & cross-sectoral collaboration, innovation & entrepreneurship

across different regions & value chains.

Projects:

• budget: +- 5M € per project

• to support innovation activities & channel a mix of different targeted entrepreneurialand innovation support measures directly to the innovation actors. At least 75% ofthe total budget shall be allocated to support innovation in SMEs directly.

• 18 projects launched so far; still 10 projects under implementation, another 5 to startin the Spring 2020 and another 5-6 to start in the Spring 2021.

Project Block.IS (1)

✓ Blockchain Innovation Spaces (BlockIS) envisions to build an open & collaborative cross-border, cross-sectoral innovation ecosystem that fosters the use of a cutting-edge technology - blockchain - in three vital sectors for the European economy: agrofood, logistics and finance.

Project PARSEC (1)

✓ PARSEC will provide SMEs from the Earth Observation sector and key emerging industries (food, energy, environment) with a holistic portfolio of access to capital, knowledge, market and technology services thus allowing them to forge new industrial value chains and realisesignificant, EO-enabled societal, economic and environmental benefits across a number of market sectors

✓ Current opportunities for SMEs :

• PARSEC Open Call#2 – “Call for consortia” (!!! at least one of the partners is a successful beneficiary from Open Call 1 who also has to be the leader of the Consortium)– application period will take place in spring 2020 (planned for April 2020) leading to the PARSEC second stage that will run between September 2020 and October 2021. At the end 15 winning consortia will see their new products or services launched into the market.

Project S3FOOD (1)

✓ S3FOOD will stimulate the integration of IoT and related technologies via the implementation of smart sensor systems in the food production processes in order to improve quality control, resource efficiency and the follow-up of food safety in the food production process.

• A call for travel vouchers is published on the project website (open until 30 October 2020)

To financially support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the food, ICT and sensor value chains to stimulate and support their attendance at cross-border events organized in the course of S3Food project such as matchmaking events and study visits

• A call for the following types of vouchers is planned to be published in February 2020:

❖ Scalability and feasibility analysis voucher (up to 30K per SME)

❖ Prototyping voucher (up to 60K per SME)

Project VIDA (1)

✓ Value-added Innovation in fooD chAins (VIDA) will nurture and harness the growth and innovation potential of SMEs working across European food chains, bringing together four complementary and mutually dependent sectors; food, energy, water and key enabling technologies (KET). VIDA will strengthen current and develop new cross-sectoral industrial value chains within the food production and processing industries through a combination of direct and indirect innovation actions, as well as support and capacity building measures.

Project C-VOUCHER (1)

• C-VOUCHER aims at generating new cross-sectoral and cross-border value chains with a circular economy approach, by combining industrial value chains (Agro-Food, Health, Sea Industries, Textile & Manufacturing) with enabling Technologies (Digital, Hybrid &

Engineering), through design thinking concepts.

• 24 SMEs will be awarded access to the ‘Circularity Programme’ - an acceleration program lasting up to 9 months with up to €60k vouchers and dedicated services from high level Designers-in-Residence and top business professionals (mentors) who will guide them along the program to design new, circularity solutions.

• 42 SMEs will be selected for the ‘Value Chain Replication Program’, obtaining €15k to create circular feasibility plans. This program will last for 3 months.

Project DIVA (1)

• An EU program to support innovation by SMEs, and foster the emergence of new value chains, with a cross-sectoral approach digital x agri-food sector, and other related sectors forestry or environment, With a European ambition

- Direct financial support : 2 calls with three types of vouchers:

✓ Blockpool will select 25 promising projects led by SMEs toenroll into an acceleration programme for testing andvalidating new Blockchain and Distributed LedgerTechnologies (BDLTs) (with a close to market andcommercialization focus) in sectors such as:

Project Blockchers

Blockchers aim to select SMEs developing solutions withDLTs for their validation in end users SMEs use cases. Thebeneficiaries of open calls will act as promoters of DLTsuptake by traditional SMEs.

Technological SME developing a use-case for an end-user SME based on DLT. The existence of an end-user SME is a compulsory requirement for the technological SME to be considered for the evaluation.

✓ Expected duration of participation: 6 months

✓ Financial support for each third party (lump sum):

up to 50.000 € if the project qualifies for the 3 stages immersion, immersion and recognition

✓ Total funding available: 750.000 €

✓ Call deadline: 13 March 2020
