Phil’s Legacy 1W-YPR 00:35Pops Legacy x Brogden Sdg.An early flowering 1WY of superb quality. The perianth is full of substance with broad smooth segments. The long slender trumpet is neatly rolled at the mouth. Good colouring with no bleed of colour into the perianth.This variety is a very strong grower and has had numerous Premier Bloom awards. One of the best available in this division.Price per bulb $50

IntroductionWelcome to our forth catalogue. Once again it is very gratifying the support that we have received from growers. We hope that your bulbs are growing well for you and we look forward to your continued support.We had a very successful show season in 2018. The North Island National Show was held in Hamilton. We were successful in the two main collection classes in the Open Section winning both the Rhodes for 12 varieties New Zealand raised 3 stems of each and the George Yarrell Memorial for 12 varieties , 1 stem on each. In addition we also exhibited Premier Blooms of 1YR PR14:32, 1YY-W Fresh Lime, 2YY Reed No. 17, 2YR Mokai, 2W-YYR Kiwi Happy Prince, 3YY Kawhatau, 3W-OR Peter Ramsay, 7YO Deltone, 9W-R Single Malt,11W-Y Manuka Drive.The newly registered Peter Ramsay (PR 15:7A) was selected as Champion Bloom, the second National Champion it has received being awarded Champion Bloom at the 2016 North Island National Show.It will be released in future catalogues.The South Island National Show was held in Darfield. This is towards the end of the season for us so we had very few blooms left but we were very pleased to receive Premier Blooms for 6WY Flight Path and 7YO Deltone. In addition we won the David Adams Medal class, always a challenge calling for twelve blooms from at least six divisions.On the local show scene we had a very successful season with Champion Blooms at the Northern Daffodil Club two table shows with Shilo Jane and Cameo Frost, Hamilton early show and Howick with Peter Ramsay.In this years catalogue we are releasing two new varieties raised by Peter Ramsay. Mary Grace is a late flowering 4WP, very consistent and was awarded Reserve Champion Bloom at the Northern Daffodil Club Late Show in 2016. Mr Wizard is a large very smooth 2YR, paler in colour it is a sister seedling to Desmond. We are sure that both varieties will do well. In addition we are re releasing Phils Legacy 1WY which has been unavailable in our catalogue previously. It is a very large smooth 1WY which we feel is one of the very best available.As many of you are aware our dear friend Peter Ramsay passed away on July 21st after a long illness. We will miss Peter terribly especially during the daffodil season.The many daffodils he has bred over a number of years will ensure that although Peter has gone he will certainly be not forgotten. We have a large number of Peter’s seedlings being evaluated, these will be named and introduced in time. It is perhaps fitting that possibly the finest variety Peter raised has been chosen by the family to bear his name. RIP Peter.A number of new varieties by other raiser are also included in the catalogue. These are all proven show varieties and we are confident that they will do well when widely grown.We also grow a large number of other varieties where the stocks are too small to be included in the list.
