The event was inaugurated on 18th October, 2013 in presence of Vice Chancellor, RK. University, Dr. J. Ramamohana Rao; Honorable Registrar, RK.University, Shri Shivlalbhai Ramani; Director, School of Engineering, Dr. C. D. Sankhavara; Proprietor, Samprosh Enterprise, Mr. M. S. Laxmidhar; General Manager assembly, Jyoti CNC, Mr. Hiteshbhai Patel, Head of Electronics and Communication Department, RK University, Prof. D.U. Shah and all faculty members of EC department. The primary objective of this exhibition was to create a mandatory bridge between theoretical and practical approach. Students of EC, EE and few students of other departments have actively participated in this event. The whole event was theme based and categorized in various categories i.e. Security and Safety, LED and Displays, Robotics, Tester and Meters, Automation and Control. There were 180+ projects exhibited based on these themes. The exhibition also included “Troubleshooting Competition” and

“On The Spot coding in MATLAB”. Almost all the domains of Electronics and Communication were reflected through the projects prepared by the students. This included domains like FPGA,

AVR controller, ARM, 8051 controller, RF module, GSM module, RFID, C language and Android. From LEDS to Raspberry Pi means grassroots to grand stand, all types of innovative projects were displayed which attracted a good amount of audience from different departments. Projects also included Robotic Arm, Line Follower Robot, Spy Robot, Image

Processing Based projects using LabVIEW, Aerodynamics and PLC & Automation. The projects were observed by Dr. J. Ramamohana Rao, Dr. C. D. Sankhavara, Prof. M. M. Parsaniya, Prof. Ami Makad (GEC, Rajkot) and Prof. Manvar sir (Principle of Global Science schoool). General Manager Assembly, Jyoti CNC, Mr. Hitesh Patel and Proprietor, Samprosh Enterprise, Mr. M. S.

Laxmidhar were invited as an external judges. This type of event could not be organized over the night; all participants and faculties of EC department have worked hard since a month prior to the event. Clubs organise a variety of events such as Wo r k s h o p s , Q u i z , I n t e r a c t i o n Programme, Counselling, Get-Togethers, Role Play, Debate, Group Activity, Tutorials, Expert-Lectures, Film, Webinar and Conferences that provide distinct opportunities for learning, networking, socializing, share knowledge, make friends, have fun, and make a difference outside of the classroom. The department of Computer Engineering & Information Technology, School of Engineering -RKU runs various clubs on departmental level which gives all above mentioned exposure to their students in different vertical as per their interest. Students are directly getting benefit in different interesting domain apart from class room teaching learning activity. In context to conceptual students learning and training strategies, students celebrated “WORLD DIABETES DAY”, on 14th November, 2013 with organizing primary health checkup camp and seminar on Diabetes Education and Prevention for faculties of RKU

and nearby villagers. More than 100 people participated for health checkup that included blood sugar level, BP, PR, RR, BMI and fitness tests on a special day. One Day Workshop On “INTERDISCIPLINARYP R O J E C T B A S E D L E A R N I N G ”

RKU-SPEED student chapter conducted a one day workshop on 8th October, 2013. The theme was “Interdisciplinary Project Based Learning”.

It was the wonderful event where young minds came together with zeal to contribute their share in making a difference!

The workshop began with a friendly note as the facilitators Abhishek Shah, Payal Panjwani, Shaifali & Bhavesh Jamba started the ice-breaking session. Unlike other workshops, this one was kept away from the routine inauguration function, just to make it friendlier. The students, by this activity were introduced to a whole new concept of networking beyond boundaries & how they can be a part of it. The talk about difference between a vision and a mission, what is an idea or an issue or a challenge etc. captivated the students.

The students were comfortably divided into the groups in a way that each group has students from different branches. The students were next asked to brainstorm & jot down all the possible projects that would make the world go easy.

Mr. Mohit Patel, Vice President RK. University, personally visited each group & taught the students about methodology of brainstorming. Prof. Rajanikanth

addressed the students during the workshop. This brought clarity of thoughts in students which were important in the later part of the workshop. The students were then asked to choose one out of the listed ideas for project. The next part was the critic session wherein the groups listed to each other's action plans and helped to improve the same by giving suggestions. After getting the feedback about the action plans, each groups presented the idea or the project they had taken up and its solution.

Prof. Krishna Vedula, Dean of Emeritus University of Massachusetts, Lowell, United States of America and Mr. Rohit Reddy Kandhakatla interacted with students through webinar on 17th November. They motivated and directed the students in successfully completing their action plans. The students said, the session is very much informative & helpful.
