FeelOur School is located in a small village calledSohian in Punjab. The school is dedicated forproviding quality education to children and istotally free of cost, providing students with notonly quality education but also books, uniforms,and all material required in school for learning.

Our school started 4 years back but there was noboundary or fencing around the school. As aresult, there were many concerns like strayresult, there were many concerns like strayanimals entering the school premises, breakingof windows, damage to school property andbuilding etc. Also the school ground land fillingwas not proper thus leading to wateraccumulation during rainy season.

Thus, we greatly felt of having at least a fencingaround the school to minimize these incidentsand creating a safe environment for the school.Also we felt to level the school ground so thatwater is not accumulated there.

ImagineOur first step in this process was that weapproached our Head Teacher to fix ameeting with village “Sarpanch” seekinghis support and help.

Now, major challenge was the monetarysupport we required for this projectcovering an perimeter of 400 feet. Ourplan was to do wired fencing coveringplan was to do wired fencing coveringthe school four times for which weneeded 1200 feet of wire for fencing andaround 30 cement pillars, which totalamounted to approximately Rs. 15,000/-.

We decided to conduct a donation drive,visiting every house of the village,making them understand the project wehave undertaken and thus making it acommunity project.

After a donation drive lasting for 12 days we finally collected Rs. 13,000/-.This amount would have done for fencing but we also wanted to level ourground. Seeing our dedication and passion the Sarpanch of the villagepromised us that he will arrange for the leveling of the ground for free. Thisboosted our energy and we set off to fence our school boundary.

Our checklist included purchase of cement pillars and wire for fence. Thensecond task was to arrange for labor to dig pits to install pillars. And finally itsecond task was to arrange for labor to dig pits to install pillars. And finally itwas to fence the boundary.

After all this the Sarpanch has to fulfill his promise of leveling the schoolground.

Thus prepared we started our long wished project of raising a fence for ourschool

At last, on 1st of October, one day before the Gandhi Jayanti, our school finallyhad the fencing around the complete school.

The complete project has been very touching and close to our heart. We visitedevery house of the village and met all the people. People donated to us as pertheir capability. It has been a very touching experience for us. The communitymade our project their own project and helped us in all possible way.

This was like a dream come true for all of us and will be in our heart always.Still the vision is not over as now our next step in this project is to plant creepersand flower plants to cover the fencing. Also, we are working on making a gate forour school so that there is complete protection and safety after school hours.
