There is an Independent Living Centre in each

state with the exception of NT, and all share information on equipment and resources. This Australia-wide cooperation helps ensure the service is able to provide a broad range of current information.

Independent Living Centre (ILC)

The ILC is an information resource centre that provides an:

• Equipment display• Equipment reference library• Advisory service

The Independent Living Centre has a large range of equipment on display for people to view and compare.

Equipment is not available for purchase or hire, however staff can assist with information about products, where to buy them and other services and resources.

Our equipment database is available online at www.ilcaustralia.org.au and includes information on:

• Household, eating and drinking equipment• Lounge and dining chairs• Pressure cushions and mattresses• Bathroom and toilet equipment• Adjustable beds• Clothing and dressing equipment• Manual and powered wheelchairs• Powered mobility scooters• Walking aids

Who can use the ILC?

Everyone is welcome to use the ILC services, including people with disabilities, older people, carers, parents, advocates and other service providers, health professionals, architects, designers, builders, suppliers, manufacturers and students.

How can we help you?

1. Contact us for adviceInformation, including product descriptions and suppliers, can be provided over the phone or sent by mail, email or fax.

Product information is also available online at www.ilcaustralia.org.au

2. Visitor Opening HoursIf you would like to look around by yourself, you are welcome to drop in between 9:00 and 4:30 Monday to Friday. Accessible parking is available near the entrance.

3. Community Weigh ScaleA community weigh scale is available during visitor opening hours. Bookings are not required. This self-weigh station is wheelchair accessible and measures up to 600kg. A wheelchair (max user weight 150kg) is also available for people to access these scales.

4. Appointments with Occupational TherapyAppointments to see an occupational therapist can be made by contacting Community Health Intake on 6207 9977. Information regarding this service can be provided upon request.

If you are aged 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), you can request Occupational Therapy services through My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.

These referrals are subject to service eligibility criteria and can be made by clients, family or health professionals.

5. Other Services Available• Second hand register – a list of second-hand

equipment available to purchase managed on behalf of members of the community.

• Meeting room available for hire (fees may apply)
