POPSI indexing

• The name POPSI (Postulate-based Permuted Subject Index) refers to a family of string indexing systems developed by and others Ganesh Bhattacharya. and based on the work of Ranganathan on the theory of classification.

• The rule for index string generation in the theoretical "basic" version of POPSI is an extremely simple KWOC-like one.

• Steps in POPSI The index entries according to this system are

generated in a systematic manner with the help of following steps of operation.

• a comma (",") precedes the "entity" segment; a semicolon (";"), a "property" segment; a colon (":"), a "process" segment; a hyphen ("-"), a qualifying sub segment; and a greater-than sign (">"), a narrower term.
