We are designing human-centred programmes that see the growth of social entrepreneurship in hard to reach places. And are looking for the right people to join us!

We take career changers and career breakers, post-grads and sabbaticalists, corporate learners and freelancers to amazing places, to work alongside grassroots entrepreneurs. In turn we help you get equipped to either launch your own game changing start up, bring more meaning into your work or move into the sector.

Our mission for this programme is to work with and support the development and growth of our client, Unltd Hyderabad’s, investees. UnLtd work with early stage social entrepreneurs over 12 months to help them validate their ideas and get ready for investment and scaling up. We come on board as their official training partner to implement the tools and facilitate some of the learning around the different stages of this process.

Following a successful first programme in Hyderabad we are recruiting the next cohort of Trainee Social Enterprise Consultants for a unique programme that sees you learn all about social entrepreneurship in innovative ways.

_Hello _WhoWeAre We are a small group of young professionals who have been making our move away from the corporate sector in the last few years. Since then we’ve been notching up hours in volunteer management, international development, youth media, CSR & Social Enterprise.

We have over 30 years of professional experience, managing over 200 volunteers along the way.

_SocialStarters works with two groups of people:

1. International volunteers who want to gain hands on social entrepreneurship experience

2. Entrepreneurs in developing countries who lack access to training in social entrepreneurship

We connect these two groups together to develop sustainable social impact ventures and launch new impactful start-ups.

Our collaborative accelerator programme sees international volunteers become _ SocialStarters, taking all the current thinking around social innovation and design thinking to hard to reach places, developing along the way sustainable social impact ventures.

The idea is that the skilled professionals (that’s you!) return to your communities, motivated and inspired to take the next step in your social impact career journey.

_WhoWeWorkWithWe ran our pilot in Kenya with VSO Jitloee, the Kenyan arm of the UK government backed Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) to deliver social entrepreneurship training to their unemployed young volunteers. In India, we’re the official training partners of UnLtd India, working directly with their affiliate UnLtd Hyderabad.

UnLtd India are a sister organisation to the Social Enterprise supporters UnLtd in the UK.

We are constantly talking to amazing partners all around the world, people who are dedicated to and passionate about growing social entrepreneurship. In Brazil we’re exploring a couple of incredible potential partnerships that would deliver us talented engaged young people and access to a wider network of people influential in this space, and in Sri Lanka our relationship with the British Council is looking likely to mean we’ll be involved in the development of a new, locally mapped social entrepreneurship community set to change the way a country tackles post-conflict development.

_WhatWeWillDo _COLLABORATEWe bring together people from different worlds to create change. We train you up to become a Social Enterprise Consultant, and you will work with a group of micro start-ups, young people, or existing grassroots social entrepreneurs to help them identify problems, design solutions, test ideas, build brands and get them ready for launch. _LEARNDuring Bootcamp you will learn about specific tools and techniques that enable you to support your clients appropriately. You’ll be introduced to social entrepreneurship, start-up methods, business modelling, finances and what it means to work with people at the base of the pyramid. Plus you’ll take part in creative and design workshops, and immerse yourself into the community.

_DESIGNMost volunteer programmes end once you return home and the impact is short term. _SocialStarters gives you the tools and inspiration to design change in your own lives as well as others. Whether you want to develop your own start-up ideas, turn your passion into a business or move into a more meaningful career, we create space for you to explore your values and what it is that makes you tick so that you can return home feeling ready to make your next move.

You are truly inspiring and your perspective that you bring is so fundamental to how we should start a business that has a social element to it. I am improving, humanizing, developing, learning and getting knowledge day by day under your training.

You will then spend the remaining weeks identifying problems, designing solutions, testing ideas, building brands and making a long lasting impact for your clients.

Based on a needs assessment you will then design a programme for your clients, supporting them to bring their ideas to life over the following 5 weeks. In your spare time, you’ll be able to develop you own ideas and explore their validity for your return.

We’ll be supporting you through career coaching and ideation workshops to enable you to feel ready to tackle your ‘what next’.

_HowWeStarted

_CO-FOUNDER

We started this in Kenya as an experiment to test whether social entrepreneurship training in hard to reach places can empower young people to climb their own way out of poverty. Following a successful pilot, we are confidant about our methodology and are growing globally. And we have ambitious aims. We do expect, with your help, that Indian entrepreneurs will be able to strengthen their solutions to serious social issues. And we look forward to seeing your ideas for creating change in your community. Could this be the start of a sustainable volunteer programme that truly creates change? You will be instrumental in helping us find out.
