was around Rs. 4 lakh crores (Rs. 3,92,234

crores)

India has emerged as a net exporter of

agricultural produce.

Exports - Rs. 2.28 lakh crores and imports -

Rs. 1.64 lakh crores during 2016-17.

Measures to handle Edible Oil imports (almost 50% of our agri imports), Pulses (1/5th of our agriimports)

Major revision of Agricultural Trade Policy in respect of Pulses: Import duties increased to protect farmers, export restrictions removed.

Major revision of Import Duties in respect of Edible Oils: Biggest import tariff hike during the last decade. For ex: Crude Palm Oil duty raised from 7.5% to 15% (in August, 2017) to 30% (in November, 2017).

Import duty on Soyabean seeds hiked (from 30% to 45%)
