Introduction
In the context of interest in the development of program performance and educational institutions
provide indicators to measure the performance of statistical data and information that enables the
decision maker to measure progress in achieving the strategic objectives, and to facilitate decision-

Zulfi college of Sciences 38 Mathematics Department
Second: Benchmarking
Benchmarking is considered one of the most valuable management tools
in today's world to improve the performance indicators and identify the
elements of power and promotion and weaknesses and address them.
It was defined as a method of improving the performance and practices
by measuring the performance of the educational program or educational
institution compared the performance and practices more programs or
institutions corresponding success , and can be defined as the process of
comparing and measuring the activities of the program or the institution
and its internal processes with institutions of higher performance from
inside or outside the industry that works where that institution , as well as
the process of measuring and comparing the key practices of the
institution or program with the practices of the major institutions or other
programs to establish standards of performance relative help to set new
goals and discover new ideas for improvement. Adoption of quality
systems in higher education mainly on global best practices, or in other
words, is the ideal situation or the desired mode in which they operate
institutions of higher education to reach it , and then the process of
comparisons of reference are relevant to determine the current status of
institutions of higher education programs and the steps that must be taken
to reach to the ideal situation or desirable .
Means benchmarking continuous assessment of the University organized
by administrative and academic compared to the levels of national or
international similar, and this way they can identify the strengths and
weaknesses compared to other universities with reputed regionally or
globally, so as to ensure her to learn from them and improve the quality
of their services and their outputs.
Comparisons can be divided into three types of reference
- Internal Benchmarking
Where the educational institution by comparing each section or sections
where management and other similar departments in light of certain
criteria, and the information is collected the required tools to measure
multiple, and this is kind of easier comparisons of reference.
Indicators of Performance Measurement & Benchmarking
Zulfi college of Sciences 39 Mathematics Department
- Competition-Based Benchmarking
The comparison here is between the institutions and programs of higher
education and other institutions and programs and the corresponding
competing locally or globally, and is the collection of data and
information in ways that directly through contract agreements with the
institutions and the corresponding software or indirect ways.
- Functional Benchmarking
The program or educational institution here by comparing the functions
performed by such teaching or scientific research or community service
functions themselves in institutions of higher education debate and
distinctive regionally or internationally, in order to enhance these
functions and improvement, falls within this type compared to procedures
common to all types of institutions, such as the obligation to attend and
leave the system work, wages and the use of modern techniques and other
aspects.
Importance of benchmarking
1- Rationalization of expenditures .
2- Opportunities for continuous learning .
3- Provide an opportunity for the organization to go - both internally and
externally - the best models around .
4- Improve the capacity of creative and innovative staff .
5- Provision of opportunities for collaboration between organizations or local
units .
6- Enable senior management to answer a series of questions .
7- Built an organizational culture geared to solve problems
Benchmarking has on two axes:
