o Edit or add works to your claim by clicking on the pencil icon.
o Edit your contact information by clicking on your name.
Step 3: Starting a new claim.
Start a New Claim. Click on the Start New Claim button to start a new claim for a new Registered
Copyright Owner.
Step 4: Provide Registered Owner contact information.
o Registered Copyright Owner Type: Choose whether you are filing as an Individual or a Business.
o Individual. Provide your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. Then select
Next.
o Business. Provide the business name, the business contact name, mailing address, phone
number, and email address. You also need to answer whether your business has any direct or
indirect parent or subsidiary companies. Then select Next.
Step 5: Did you sign a Participating Publisher Pending and Unmatched Usage Agreement with Spotify?
Since you are filing a claim as a Registered Copyright Owner of a musical work for yourself, did you enter into a
Participating Publisher Pending and Unmatched Usage Agreement with Spotify in connection with the
National Music Publishing Association's Agreement with Spotify in 2016?
o If yes, you are not a Class Member under the terms of this Settlement Agreement and are not
eligible to file a claim.
o If no, please select ‘No’ and then proceed by clicking Next.
Step 6: Filing for Individual Works
Individual filing will allow you to submit information on a work per work basis. You can do this as many times
as necessary to select all available tracks associated with your copyrighted musical work(s).
Note: You will be able to file for multiple musical works and related tracks within each Claim.
Step 7: Adding your first work.
Since this is the first time you are filing a claim, you will need to add a new work by clicking on the ‘Add New
Work’ button.
Step 8: Providing Your Musical Work Information
Here you will enter your Copyrighted Musical Work Information. This is a crucial part of the claim filing process
because the title of the Copyrighted Musical Work and the Copyright Registration Number are required fields
for a valid claim. You also cannot proceed to the Spotify Track Search Tool unless you enter all required
information on this page.
o Title. To begin, start with entering the title of your Copyrighted Musical Work.
o Copyright Registration Number. Next, enter the Copyright Registration Number (CRN) for the musical
work you provided in the field above.
o If you do not know the CRN provided by the US Copyright Office for your musical work, please
visit the Royalty Review Council (RRC) portal at www.songclaims.com.
o RRC is the third-party service provider retained by Class Counsel to act as the Settlement Claim
Facilitator to assist Class Members with the completion and submission of the online Claim Form.
Through the Portal, you can locate and identify tracks embodying works that were made available on
Spotify’s service during the Class Period. You will also be able to search the US Copyright Office
database to obtain the copyright registration numbers for those works needed to submit a claim.
o Class Counsel strongly encourages you to utilize the Portal since it can greatly assist you in submitting a
claim. You can compile and download the track and copyright information you need for your claim
online through the Portal, and export a spreadsheet to upload with your claim through this Claims
Webpage.
o Ownership Information. After you have entered the title of your musical work and the CRN, you
must also provide your percentage of ownership for the musical work. This is also a required field.
o If you have full ownership, select Yes.
o If you do not have full ownership of this musical work, select No.
Since you do not own 100% of the musical work, please enter your percentage of
ownership in the ‘Ownership Share’ column next to your name.
OPTIONAL: If you know the names of additional contributors to this musical work
you can provide their name(s) in the fields below your name. If you also know their
percentage of ownership, you can enter it in the ‘Ownership Share’ column next to
their name. Please note, provision of additional ownership information (other than
your own) is NOT required.
o Other Optional Fields. The fields without asterisks (*) are not required for a valid claim so entering
information in the following fields are OPTIONAL only.
o International Standard Musical Work Code (ISWC)
o HFA Code
o Interested Parties Information Code (IPI)
o Songwriter(s) - If you know of more than one songwriter, please enter each name and
separate with a semi-colon (;).
o A completed page will look similar to the image below.
Step 9: Spotify Track Search
Now that you have saved the musical work, you will need to select all the tracks streamed on Spotify during
the Class Period which embody the musical work for this claim.
o Search by entering information in at least one of the fields on this page (for example, Song Title).
o If you want to narrow your search results (for example if your original search renders over
250 results), you can enter information in more than one field (for example: Song Title,
Artist, and Album Title).
o
o Once you have conducted your search, you must select the tracks that embody the musical work
for this claim. After you select all applicable tracks, make sure you save your selections by clicking
the Save Tracks button.
Step 10: Add a New Musical Work
o To add more musical works to your claim, click the Add New Work button.
o If you have no more musical works to claim, click the Next button to finalize your claim submission.
Step 11: Upload Supporting Documentation
Once you have added all your musical work and related Spotify track information, you may upload supporting
documentation related to ownership of your musical works. Please note that providing ownership
documentation is entirely OPTIONAL.
Upload any supporting documents related to your claim by clicking Browse Files.
Step 12: Certify and Submit Your Claim
Check on the certification box at the end of the page and click Submit. Once your claim is submitted you will
receive a confirmation email for your records.
Step 13: Claim Confirmation
After submitting your claim, you will land at the Confirmation page which contains a confirmation code and a
detailed summary of your claim. You will also receive a confirmation email with the same information.
If you prefer, you can also print this page by clicking the Print Claim Summary button.
