The company

In 1925 Timoteo Martini, father of the

current chairman, founded “Lampadari

Martini”, a small company producing

professionally crafted lighting fixtures in

Milan. The Martini Illuminazione Group

comprises Martini S.p.A. (established

in 1971 at Concordia sulla Secchia in

the province of Modena), Sames S.p.A

(purchased in 1995 and transferred from

Moncalieri to the same manufacturing

premises) and, since 2006, Sothis (a

company specialising in the production of

decorative STRASS® glass lamps). In over

eighty years of commercial activity, the

group has become a leading organisation

within the industry.

The Martini group conducts in-depth

research into product design and

construction, and monitors the technical

lighting performance of the resulting

fixtures. This means a vast array of products

can be used in a variety of ways, from

indoor lighting for offices and workplaces,

commercial environments, reception areas,

cultural sites and museums to outdoor

applications such as urban and street

lighting. 170 people are employed at the

Martini Illuminazione group manufacturing

sites, which cover a total area of 21,500

square metres.

Through the consolidated experience

of a large team of architects and lighting

designers, Martini has been offering

assistance in the design and development

of lighting schemes for years, from the

preliminary research phase right through

to the selection of individual products and

technical lighting calculations.

The requirements of each project are

always carefully assessed, so as to guide

the design and check the actual impact of

the light on the environment, in order to

adhere to the standards governing every

indoor and outdoor installation. Martini

group designers use technical lighting

calculation software to offer solutions

which enhance the various product and

light source types, optimising performance

and comfort and therefore saving energy

in every architectural context (through the

application of outdoor LED products, for

example).

A lighting technology design centre has

recently been established in Milan and

showrooms opened in Rome, Moscow and

Saint Petersburg as part of a constantly-

evolving programme.

All fixtures are designed for use in

conjunction with the most up-to-date

light sources: halogen, fluorescent, metal

halide and sodium vapour, with particular

emphasis on LED technology; they are also

subjected to an ISO 9001 certified quality

control process, during which they are

tested and checked in our own in-house

laboratory.

Special attention is also given to making

sure that current legislation is observed in

all relevant countries, and that the technical

and lighting features of the products are

assessed and certified correctly.

The company

The products are designed using the

most up-to-date modelling and three-

dimensional prototyping software, in

accordance with ISO EN 9001-2008

quality system procedures. A group of

in-house technicians designs and de-

velops reflectors using special software

which checks data accuracy and helps

to optimise performance in terms of the

energy used; the calculated values are

then verified in the test laboratory.

Departments are created in accord-

ance with the latest logistics criteria, and

structured so that components and semi-

processed parts can be located quickly

through barcode management. Special-

ist staff are given continuous training to

guarantee reliability and quality during all

processing phases.

The processes are supported by semi-

automated equipment, which helps to

reduce lighting fixture manufacturing

times. Furthermore, at the end of the

line, full functional tests are conducted

on the finished product.

many years; coupled with its close

partnerships with designers and ar-

chitects, this has led to the creation

of many technical solutions for indoor

lighting, urban lighting and the accent

lighting used to enhance buildings and

carried out across Italy and overseas. It

is extremely flexible and can be adapt-

ed to suit the requirements of each

customer, offering continuous support

so as to develop the best possible tech-

nological solutions.

Web communication

Martini, recognising the need to satisfy

all types of customer requests and tak-

ing its company philosophy as a starting

point, has constructed its own website

in such a way that everyone has full ac-

cess to the products, even before any

direct contact has taken place. The site

is actually divided into detailed sections

dedicated to product families, projects,

technical data, parallel activities un-

dertaken by the company, events and

newly-released products.

The website is easy to read, thanks to the

initial interface which has a menu guiding

the user to the relevant area quickly and

intuitively, without missing any important

information.

Each section features a broad descrip-

tion to improve the initial approach and

to complement the graphics used, thus

helping to simplify the data learning proc-

ess.

The download section, complete with

brochures and catalogues, can be used

to download 2D and 3D diagrams, tech-

nical specifications, installation instruc-

tions and technical lighting calculation

software.

Our qualified staff keep the site constant-

ly updated, entering data in real time and

ensuring the structure meets all market-

tenzione all’uso della luce è importante,

ha un’ampia flessibilità d’impiego grazie

alle molte fonti luminose ai riflettori ottici

usati e ai numerosi accessori, quali fil-

tri colorati e cromatici, lenti e schermi

antiabbagliamento di vario tipo.

Facile, sicuro e immediato è l’impiego,

grazie alla sostituzione lampada e al

bloccaggio del puntamento graduato

senza l’uso d’utensili meccanici.

L’estrema versatilità di Mickey lo ren-

de adatto a qualsiasi applicazione:

ambienti di lavoro e musei.

Mickey nasce con il preciso intento di

utilizzare l’alimentazione elettronica inte-

grata sull’intera gamma. A tal scopo è

stato progettato e brevettato un sistema

di compartimentazione per consentire

all’unità elettronica di alimentazione di

funzionare ad una temperatura Tc non

superiore ai limiti della componentistica.

I riflettori e gli accessori intercambiabi-

li, di facile sostituzione, permettono di

adattare il proiettore ad eventuali nuove

esigenze d’illuminazione, passando così

da un’illuminazione diffusa di riempie-

mento ad una concentrata d’accento, o

viceversa.

Taglio termico

Oltre alle consuete fessure di convezio-

ne, per creare uno scambio termico otti-

male è stato creato uno spazio d’aria tra

il vano lampada e il corpo del proiettore

(anello verde), in pratica una vera e pro-

pria camera d’aria per ripartire e convo-

gliare dinamicamente il calore generato

dalla sorgente luminosa verso l’esterno.

Durante il funzionamento in qualsiasi

posizione il riciclo di aria per il raffredda-

mento è continuo.

Sono state adottate delle soluzioni tecni-

che specifiche, affinché la temperatura

del corpo centrale in lega di alluminio

risultasse tollerabile durante la presa

per il puntamento (nella fase di accen-

sione), nessun elemento metallico mette

in contatto il vano lampada con il corpo

esterno.

Regolazione puntamenti

L’apparecchio è dotato di blocco del pun-

tamento sia per il piano verticale che per

quello orizzontale: qualora necessario, si

ha la possibilità di bloccare il proiettore in

una specifica direzione evitando sposta-

menti accidentali e quindi la perdita del

puntamento iniziale. Questa dotazione è

indispensabile per musei, gallerie d’arte e

applicazioni tecniche dove il puntamento

del proiettore è fatto da professionisti e

non deve essere modificato.

Il proiettore Mickey viene fornito con adat-

tatore a binari Eurostandard. Il suo peso

contenuto, anche nella versione più gran-

de, rende possibile l’uso dell’adattatore di

media dimensione, che non turba l’esteti-

ca del prodotto e lo rende adatto alla col-

locazione in qualsiasi contesto. L’ estrema

leggerezza gli consente altresì di poter

essere montato sia su binario orizzontale

che verticale nelle versioni 90 e 140 con

l’apposito accessorio di arresto.

Corpo

Realizzato in tre misure, il proiettore, è

costituito da un elemento ottenuto me-

diante processo d’estrusione dell’allumi-

nio e successiva lavorazione meccanica;

da due tappi, anteriore e posteriore, e da

un anello frontale realizzati in materiale

plastico PPS resistente ad alte tempera-

ture su cui sono montate le ottiche.

Lo snodo è realizzato in pressofusione

d’alluminio che permette il puntamento

del proiettore.

I riflettori sono in alluminio trattati con

processo di metallizzazione ad alto vuoto.

The clean, essential lines of the Shop

Line 36 fixture make it suitable for use

in any modern environment. The range

is available as a pendant fixture, or in a

recessed version designed for application

to plasterboard surfaces; this product

may also be fitted into walls.

To complete the range, all fixtures are

available in an analogue 1-10 V dimmer

or a D.A.L.I. dimmer version.

The Shop line 59 system is offered as a

modular system which, with the applica-

tion of various accessories, can be used

to create channels of light with varying

length measurements. This product was

designed to make the connection of dif-

ferent modules easier and to reduce

installation times; each fixture is already

set up for electrical connection in a row.

The illuminated channel consists of mod-

ules measuring between 873 mm and

2946 mm in length. A fundamental fea-

ture of this channel is the overlapping of

the lamps by approximately 82 mm, for

continuous light diffusion.

The modules consist of an extruded body,

wiring and a satin-finish polycarbonate

diffuser screen with specially shaped

ends which make overlapping possible

when arranged in a continuous row.

The special shape of the extrusion means

the diffuser screen or darklight optic can

be positioned flush with the extrusion it-

self, or moved back by 10 mm (see figure

5-6).

fixture correctly, proceed as follows: in

addition to the body, the wiring and the

screen you should order the ceiling at-

tachment accessory. Furthermore, for

fixtures arranged in a continuous row,

the illuminated channel should be com-

pleted with linear or 90° coupling ele-

ments.

The ceiling-mounted fixture is designed

to be screwed to the ceiling using screw

anchors; the reduced thickness of the

top part of the fixture means that the

cable input point can be modified by

drilling holes in the body, in accordance

with your requirements.

This family of indirect light pendant and

wall-mounted fixtures was created by

combining simple and fluid lines. The

light concept and streamlined shape of

the Dafne product make it ideal for giving

The coloured side lighting strips can be

customised, making this a very distinctive

Novi 620/450/380 is a series of versatile

Aurelia wall/ceiling-mounted


The innovation of Aurelia is centred

around the special light diffusion

achieved using a PMMA core encased in

aluminium, in which the flow of energy

exploits the reflective properties of the

translucent material.

The atmospheric light output offers sur-

prisingly high-quality radiation; light fil-

ters into the environment, subtly involving

the onlooker.

Body

Two versions of the front screen are

available: one with a thick PMMA sheet

which exploits the principle of total inter-

nal reflection (light duct), in which direct

emission occurs via the passage of light

through windows in the sheet, and one

with an opaque methacrylate screen.

The front frame is made using aluminium

and the rear part of the fixture is made

using metal and polycarbonate; small

windows in the rear allow light to escape,

creating a pleasant visual effect on the

wall.

Compact 24 W fluorescent lamps with

2G11 socket.

Emissions

Diffused light in the opaque screen mod-

el. In the version with light duct diffuser,

the flow of light is channelled through the

emission windows.

Bicubo spotlight

This multifunctional spotlight can be used to

enhance indoor areas with unusual architec-

tural features.

Thanks to its mechanical composition (cen-

tral joint) and hooking systems, the Bicubo

product uses light to fully enhance the spaces

within an environment, also providing the

option of adjusting the direction of the lamp

body.

Its precise and simple design specifications

have resulted in a versatile product which is

capable of enhancing the lighting scheme in

which it is used.

Accessories

Easy replacement of accessories and

reflectors, which can be used to adapt

the spotlight to any new lighting require-

ments: moving from diffused filler light-

ing to concentrated accent lighting.

Heat containment

The need to use electronic control gear

(integrated into the fixture) across the

entire range led to the development of

a compartmentalisation system, so as to

allow the electronic control gear unit to

operate at a temperature within the limits

specified for the components used. An

air chamber was created beween the

lamp compartment and the spotlight

body, to collect the heat generated by the

light source and channel it outside. Air is

recirculated continuously, regardless of

the position of the fixture. These specific

technical solutions ensure the tempera-

ture of the central body (during ignition)

can be tolerated during the handling pro-

cedure required to adjust its position.

The Milo spotlight for indoor use is distin-

guished by its clean and elegant appear-

ance, consisting of precise geometric

shapes. It is suitable for application in a

variety of exhibition spaces and can be

used to highlight the architectural fea-

tures of boutiques, showrooms, shops,

shopping centres and museums.

Milo can be used in conjunction with nu-

merous light sources, from low-voltage

to metal halide lamps; this, coupled with

the multitude of light beam options and

accessories available, makes it the ideal

solution for tailored individual lighting re-

quirements.

Position adjustment

The fixture has a friction locking device

for positioning on both horiziontal and

vertical axes. The spotlight locking device

can be adjusted as necessary to achieve

a particular aim, simply by gripping the

optical assembly.

The fixture offers 330° rotation on the

horizontal axis and ± 90° on the vertical

axis.

This spotlight features an innovative

design with soft, continuous lines.

Suited to any type of space in which the

use of light is an important factor, it offers

great flexibility in terms of its application,

thanks to the many light sources, optical

reflectors and accessories (such as col-

oured and multicoloured filters, lenses

and anti-glare screens of various types)

used in conjunction with it.

It offers easy, safe and instant opera-

tion, as the lamp can be replaced and

the graduated locking device set without

using any mechanical tools.

The extreme versatility of Mickey makes

it suitable for any application: show-

rooms, shops, shopping centres, exhi-

bition spaces, work environments and

museums.

Mickey was created with the specific

aim of using integrated electronic control

gear across the entire range. To this end,

a special compartmentalisation system

was designed and patented so as to

allow the electronic control gear unit to

operate at a Tc temperature within the

limits specified for the components.

Accessories

Interchangeable reflectors and accesso-

ries, which are easy to replace, can be

used to adapt the spotlight to any new

lighting requirements which may arise,

moving from diffused filler light to con-

centrated accent lighting, or vice-versa.

Heat containment

In addition to the traditional slits, in order

to create an optimal heat exchange an air

space was left between the lamp com-

partment and the body of the spotlight

(green ring); in practice this is a real air

chamber which dynamically collects the

heat generated by the light source and

channels it outside. The recirculation

of air for cooling purposes takes place

continuously during operation in any

position.

A few specific technical solutions have

been adopted so that the temperature of

the central body in an aluminium alloy is

such that it can be held while it is being

locked into position (during ignition); no

metal part brings the lamp compartment

into contact with the outer body.

Position adjustment

The fixture is equipped with a position

locking device for the vertical axis and for

the horizontal axis: whenever necessary,

the spotlight can be locked in a specific

direction, thus preventing accidental

movement and the loss of its initial po-

sition. This function is indispensable for

museums, art galleries and technical ap-

plications where the position of the spot-

light is set by professionals and should

not be changed.

The Mickey spotlight is supplied with an

adapter for Euro Standard tracks. The

limited product weight (even in its largest

size) means a normal-sized adapter can

be used, thereby ensuring the appear-

ance of the product remains unaffected

and making it suitable for use in any con-

text. Its extreme lightness also means the

90 and 140 versions can be fitted to a

horizontal or vertical track, using the spe-

cial stop point accessory.

Body

nent which then undergoes mechanical

processing; it also has two caps (front

and rear) and a PPS plastic frontal ring

The innovative appearance of the prod-

uct is due in part to the position of the

ballast at the side of the fixture rather

than above it; a good level of stability is

achieved through a droplight with three

suspension cables. The diffuser pen-

dant completes the range of Mickey

spotlights for use in all situations where,

in addition to the previous products, dif-

Sax adjustable spotlights and recessed

fixtures consist of a die-cast aluminium

body with an extremely elegant and sim-

ple design.

The precision and flexibility of the move-

ments achieved using thoroughly re-

For a load of 5 kg per 200 mm, the fixing

point distance must be shortened to 500

mm.

Simple design, technology and different

types of light source are the elements

which resulted in the creation of the new

Witra/Miniwitra range of fixtures.

The series, ideal for application in com-

mercial lighting schemes, consists of

pendants and recessed fixtures with ad-

justable lamps.

Its subtle design means it can be installed

in any environment wthout altering its ar-

chitectural balance; a wide selection of

products is available in wall-mounted,

ceiling-mounted, recessed, track, pen-

dant and floor lamp versions.

AR111 halogen lamps with incorporated

reflector. Wattages between 50 and 100

junction with T5 linear fluorescent tubes.
