FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS
Awareness about mutual fund is still very low in India.
Mutual fund schemes which give tax benefit are
more preferable among investors.
As mutual funds are relatively risky, very few people
want to invest in it.
Lower income group investors generally prefer
those schemes which can give them
regular income.

Retired persons dont want to invest in mutual
fund.
Lack of transparency.
Poor investor servicing.
Absence of qualified sales force.

SUGESSTIONS
Mutual fund companies should position their schemes as less risky to attractthe investors who dont want to take risk say retired persons.
A wide range of growth fund should be introduced as it is the first preference of
a majority of investors.
Apart from cities Mutual fund companies should venture into rural areas wherelarge number of small investors is untapped.
Maintaining transparency in management and creating awareness by
conducting seminars, workshops, and establishing good service network can
benefit the mutual fund industry in Orissa.
Advertisement in newspaper, television and various otherMedias can help in
increasing level of awareness among people regarding Mutual fund.

Product innovation, focus, service and above all performance will determine
the winners in future.
At this transition period, the Indian mutual fund industry needs to develop
better products, demonstrate healthy and strong investment processes and
ensure better service standards to gain and retain investor trust and
confidence.
This retention of investor trust and confidence will ultimately translate in to
higher assets under management on sustained basis.
Indian mutual fund industry has to garner investor trust by way of better
products , better process and services.
