    About the degree

    The degree offers a good mix of academic andvocational coverage of the subject material involved, thefocus of which is on the advanced theoretical and

    empirical literature in international banking and finance. To achieve the courses aims and achieve the best

    delivery of the subject material, the course is taught byacademics with experience of the teaching and researchin economics and finance.

    The course strives to deliver a programme that will seethe successful, graduating student well equipped toenter national or international companies with atheoretical and applied knowledge of economics and

    finance.

    Admissions CriteriaMSC

    Postgraduate degrees are for students who havealready completed an undergraduate degree to a goodstandard or have enough experience in the relevant

    field. A master's is usually taught like an undergraduate

    degree and takes one or two years. It is morechallenging than a bachelor's and demands

    The Masters award has a total credit pointvalue of 180 points at level M. This

    represents a total volume of 1800 notionallearning hours associated with the award,where 1 credit point is equivalent to 10learning hours.

    All taught modules and the dissertation/projectmodule are marked on a percentage scale, with

    a pass/fail threshold of 50%. Based on the final aggregate average

    percentage result, the overall Masters awardmay be graded Masters (50-64%), Masters withMerit (6569%), or Masters with Distinction(70% plus).

    In the postgraduate programme, theDepartment runs 8 postgraduate courses,

    which are offered both full-time and part-time. Each course is co-ordinated by aCourse Leader.

    Individual modules are co-ordinated by aModule Leader.

    A three hour weekly session is scheduledfor each module.

    Attendance

    Most subjects are progressive in theircontent with sessions building upon each

    other, so if you do miss sessions you willneed to catch up with any work that you havemissed.

    You should inform your Course Leader andmodule tutors if you are going to be unableto attend your course for some time, other

    than the occasional unavoidable absence.

    Studying

    You should aim to attend all yourtimetabled classes which include a weekly

    lecture.You also need to study in your own time

    and altogether you should plan to spend

    12-14 hours a week on each module,making a forty hour week commitment fora full-time student!!!
