Statistics RequirementAll BE/BEF students have to pass one of the

following:

ECON1280 Analysis of Economic Data STAT1603 Introductory Statistics STAT2601 Probability and Statistics I

Note: Most BE/BEF students would not be able to take STAT2601 as

listed in the syllabus to fulfill the statistics requirement because the

Statistics RequirementIf you plan to take a second major in statistics or risk managementYou are not recommended to take STAT1603 as it is not listed in the syllabuses of statistics major or RM major. Also, STAT1603 and STAT2601 are mutually exclusive.

If you plan to take a minor in statistics or risk management While it is possible to use STAT1603 to fulfill part of the

introductory requirement of the minor, the choice of advanced-level statistics courses will be limited.

If you take STAT1603 (instead of STAT2601), you may find it difficult to understand the advanced-level statistics courses if your pursue minor in statistics or risk management.

Other casesTake either ECON1280 or STAT1603 to fulfill the statistics
