ABSTRACT This report is aimed at explaining key areas of my industrial training undertaken in Ubungo plant II at Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO). IT gives a brief introduction about TANESCO, as the main supplier of electricity in Tanzania. It also gives a good presentation of the organizational structure and the interconnectivity of the various Engineering and Services Departments. Effort was made to explain the role of the Electrical Engineering Department, bearing in mind the various electrical facilities and relevant software which are also used in oil and gas field. Adequate coverage has been given to the operations and maintenance training I received, as well as the specific type of work I was engaged in.

Ungu/a and 0emba$ T!ESC" o(ns mostof the electricity generating& transmitting and distributing facilities in Tanzania ,ainland& (hich has an estimated population of 12$3 million people by 4uly 3225 (6orld 7act 8ook#$The 9erman colonialists established the first public electricity supply in Tanzania ((hich (as then called Tanganyika# in :;25 at 'ar es Salaam$ It ser%ed the rail(ay (orkshops and a part of the to(n (here the colonialists (ere mostly staying$ 6hen the Tanganyika territory (as mandated to 9reat 8ritain in :;32& a 9o%ernment Electricity 'epartment (as formed to take o%er and operate the public supplies left by the 9ermans$In :;th !o%ember :;
