Experience can’t be taught. It is gained

from being “in the trenches” and getting

one’s hands dirty to learn a lesson or

two. You need an experienced partner

you can rely on.

Partnership

Experience is the best partner More than a supplier of products, Schneider Electric is with you every step of the way – meeting your technical and business needs – throughout the life of your project. From project inception to implementation and beyond, our Industrial Solutions Center offers partnership for application specific solutions, engineering support, continuous improvement consulting and project management services.

For over a century, Schneider Electric has been by your side in the field, learning lessons, installing equipment and listening to your technical and business needs. Our solutions experts have the hands-on, practical knowledge only years of experience can provide. We work closely with you to develop and implement solutions for:

n Lower total cost of ownership

n Improved equipment performance

n Productivity and process improvements

n Enhanced flow of plant floor data for diagnostics and decision making

n Rapid systems conversions for introduction of new products or process changes

We were with you in the beginning, and we are still with you today. From the invention of the first programmable logic controller to the evolution of the web-enabled PLC, Schneider Electric has built a reputation for innovation that is legendary. Our knowledge of power, automation and control, manufacturing processes, and plant communications systems, uniquely positions us to deliver best-in-class solutions for your business to optimize operations and maintain a competitive advantage.

You need an experienced partner you can rely on. Let us show you another face of Schneider Electric.

Lifebook

Your perfect solution begins with our understanding of where you are today. This critical first step in solution building is incorporated into a proprietary tool and methodology that we call “Lifebook.”

“Lifebook” is a step-by-step assessment of your current operations, equipment and key business needs. It has been carefully adapted to meet the unique requirements of manufacturers and other companies that have trusted and used Schneider Electric products for safe and reliable operations.

Your responses to “Lifebook” questions are used to generate a customized report. The report details a long-term, comprehensive strategy to maximize the effectiveness and return on investment of your equipment. It may include options for asset management, spare parts, upgrades, risk mitigation, productivity improvement, and increased reliability.

“Lifebook” is your first step toward justifying and realizing a winning solution.

Consultative strategy for productivity

When the time is right

A true partner has in-depth knowledge of your process and business needs to construct the right solution at the right time. You may need to extend the life of your installed equipment, retrofit and upgrade an existing system, build a new system, or implement strategies to improve productivity and output. We have the tools and the experience to help you define what you need, when you need it.

Help for making the case

Faced with increased pressure to “do more with less,” plant managers and engineering staff must compete with others for resources allocated to project work. Recognizing and promoting the technical elegance of a solution under these circumstances is not enough. You must be able to make the case for a solution in financial terms – the language of those who manage the budget.

Schneider Electric’s Industrial Solutions Center helps you justify proposed solutions with answers to pertinent questions like: Is it time to invest in new technology or maintain what you have? If a new investment is the best strategy, where do you invest? Given a myriad of options, what investment strategy yields the highest return? Our experts provide ongoing consultative guidance for extending the useful life of your installed equipment. When the time is right, we will help you justify and realize the required return on investment for planned capital expenditures.

Our ability to recognize potential and turn it into a plan to boost operational and production efficiency is embodied in our consultative strategy – another face of Schneider Electric.

Consultative Strategy

Putting the Faces Together

1 Dan McGinnDirector of Engineering and Projects

BSEE, Electrical Engineering, University of Michigan18 years of industrial process experience

“We’re successful because we take a more holistic approach to managing projects for our customers than do most of our competitors. We deliver on time and on budget like everyone else, but we also have the ability to step back from the project and to see the whole picture. Not only does this allow us to manage more projects for a given customer at one time, we also build a stronger relationship with the customer taking into account the drivers and goals of multiple stakeholders within the enterprise. So, when the time is right to help a customer justify a proposed capital expense to senior management, it’s easy. We’ve built solid relationships, so we are already half way there.”

8 Stephen HosteSenior Staff Engineer

BSEE, Electrical Engineering, Wayne State University28 years of professional experience25 years of dedicated industrial process experience

“My industrial experience is mostly in the automotive manufacturing sector. I started in metal fabricating with PLC-based weld presses and weld stand controls. Next, I wrote software for stamping presses and worked on large transfer presses with automatic die change. I then moved into engine assembly, and worked with several OEMs on final assembly lines. Of late, my focus has shifted to implementation of lean manufacturing support systems, such as Andon, and production monitoring systems. Throughout all of my experience there has been one constant – the vital need to listen to the customer.”

MSM, Management, Indiana Wesleyan UniversityBSEE, Electrical Engineering, Vanderbilt UniversityProject Management Professional Certification23 years professional experience18 years of dedicated industrial process experience

“Once you are involved with an expansion project at one of the world’s largest material handling facilities, you know immediately what’s at risk. An operation that moves over 300,000 packages per hour is no small job. Our on-site team readily tackles issues before they grow into operational problems. This kind of responsiveness leads to a true partnership relationship that allows us to better manage projects, not only with the customer, but with all the associated OEM’s and contractors supporting the projects as well.”
